Another spin around the ol' block (Janique)

Perhaps one of the most valuable things Diem had ever given him - and if Jackson Blake was honest with himself, she had given him a lot - was the password to the prefect's bathroom. It made for easy relieving means and a clean place to shower. It also made a good place to bring girls, except that he really hadn't been in the mood lately. Normally he would have hidden stashes of scotch in the bathroom too but again, sheer misery had forced him to carry around just the empty flask, and only so the small weight lay comfortably against his hip as a resurgence, making him at least somewhat functional.

Quitting cold turkey had been a bad idea, even books said so. But the very fact that Jackson remembered books and facts these days meant that he was doing something right.

But the boy was still not ready to admit that Diem had been correct, no, his pride would not let him. So he did what any respectable nearly sixteen year old would do. He ignored the Nightshade prefect as best he could in classes and during Quidditch practice and was miserable in private, fighting the urge to reach for the booze all around him.

The boy exited the bathroom, a pair of fresh jeans and a t shirt that had seen better days adorning his tall frame as the ends of his still wet raven hair dripped onto the t shirt in question. Looking both ways to ensure no prefect saw him emerging from their territory, Jackson made his way cautiously down the corridor, his footsteps quiet as a ghost's.

Her sights had been set on Jackson Blake, and there was no denying he was going to be a good game. Probably not as good as Callum had been, that she knew, but considering everything she had observed about him, Jackson was going to be fun. She had seen him with numerous girls before, including the annoying Wormwood, and it had only caused her more excitement. Waiting patiently, she had hinted interest in him during class a few times, but never really put much effort into it.

Finally, she could wait no longer and sought out Jax. Although she knew she was still revelling in her win against Callum - nothing else could explain the feelings inside her whenever she saw him - and she never started a game until the satisfactory feelings left, she decided that she wasn't going to wait any longer. After all, it had been almost two months, and she was getting restless. It was weird, however, that she still felt slightly drawn towards Callum, but, as always, she wrote it off as the after effects of the biggest game of her life.

After searching a few places - and asking a few younger years - she headed towards the fourth floor in time to see him exiting the prefects bathroom. A grin started to form as she quickly moved behind him. "I didn't know you were a prefect," she said casually, slipping an arm into the crook of his elbow. Almost immediately she cursed herself in her mind. Too fast, Janique, what in Merlin's name were you thinking? Too late now, she scolded, work with what you have and don't you dare screw up any more. Being harsh on herself when it came to games was one of the reasons she always won. "I might have to report you for that," she continued, her tone soft, the hint of mischief barely showing.

"I didn't know you were a prefect,"

Biting back a sarcastic reply borne of his miserable mood lately, Jackson merely shrugged, not putting up resistance as she slipped her arm into his, obviously priming him to flirt back. And on a normal day, he would have. After all, beauty in the feminine form demanded attention, but without the haze of alcohol that usually filtered his perception, the Keeper was finding it harder to float ineffectually through the world around him.

Just one sip.

"I might have to report you for that,"

"Really?" the raven haired boy attempted, raising an inky eyebrow at the girl. "Can you report people for being unbelievably sexy?" he asked, his usual smirk making a slow but confident appearance on his lips.

"Im surprised no one's reported you yet, Janique," he added with a wink towards the girl.

She stopped a frown from appearing on her features, noticing immediately that he was not as confidant as she had pined him to be. Sure, he was taking her bait rather well, but not as fast or as much as she expected. How could she have gotten it wrong? Shaking off the thoughts, she focused on the here and now, forcing a blush at his next comment.

"Oh, you know, I have my ways of stopping them," she said, returning the wink. "You're not going to make me resort to such drastic measures, are you?"

Her mind had already fast forwarded, planning her next few moves, editing and improving them as they walked down the halls. "Where are we going?" she added, giving him the lead. Boys, she found, always liked it when they were the one who had the power.

Her attempts were appreciated, and Jackson would have been more than happy to reciprocate. After all, the boy hung out with girls for the same reason Janique did, self validation. But now that the haze of pleasant alcohol had lifted to painful reality, many things made more sense.

Including Janique's attempts to be overly friendly.

Deciding to play her game right back at her, Jackson smirked up at the girl. She really did have a pretty face, even in the harsh light of sobriety.

"Where are we going?"

"I could take you into a secret closet I know and teach you how to kiss properly," he offered, an inky black eyebrow raised cockily to his forehead.
