Friday Meet up! (Thana)

After a busy week of experimental sweet making and keeping on top of classes Louise welcomed Friday like an old friend, speaking of friends she doubled back tot he dungeon to pick up the box she'd made especially for Thana and the books she'd borrowed from the girl. She hoped she wasn't too late, she'd rushed dinner and left out dessert in favour of trying out the treats she'd made.

She made sure the box remained out of sight while passing the librarian and headed to the desk she and Thana had shared last time. She spotted the studious claw at the desk and smiled, plopping into the seat opposite her. "Hey. Thanks for letting me borrow these, they ere very informative. I'd love to give being an animagus a try...do you think the Professor would help if I asked?" She smiled, glad to see her friend again, even if it hadn't been a full week yet.

Thana had another week at Hogwarts, as hectic as it was she didn't mind. Thana liked school, except for it being boring, the subjects were boring as were most of the people here, except for a few people she knew. She made her way to the library after eating a minute amount of food, namely an apple. Thana made her way to the library, her favourite place. Found her corner then started reading. Getting lost in her own world like she seemed to be doing a lot of at the moment.

Thana looked up as heard her favourite Slytherin arrive, she knew that Louise figured she was a bookworm. "Hey !" she said to her favourite Slytherin, then listened to her. "Of course! I am sure the teachers would be interested!" she agreed, then took her books back. "Need any others?" she offered. "I got some more delivered the other day, so now I am going to need to ask the Librarian if I can have my own section" she joked to Louise.

"You wouldn't happen to have books on healing spells and medicinal potions of this century would you? I've been looking up everything I can on them. aside from sweet making I think I'd like to be a healer, specifically paediatrics. I've been sending letters to a very good healer at St. Mungos. Oh!" She pushed the box she'd brought forward.
"Speaking of that, they mentioned that some of the kids there had diabetes too, so I started making sweets without sugar in them. I used a new spell to make them taste sweet instead, I'd like to know what you think before I do a large scale test tomorrow. I'm setting up a stall in Hogsmead." She grinned excitedly, looking like her excitement could be barely contained.

Thana looked at Louise when she started speaking about healing. "Yeah, I have a whole stack!" she told her friend. "I can get them for you tonight" she told Louise, "and you are opening a lolly shop? That is cool!" she told her friend. Now jealous that she wouldn't be able to try ALL of the sweets. "In other words, you were thinking of a friend that had diabetes that you could try poison???" she asked, still jokingly. "Sure, I shall give them a try!" Thana said, finishing her book. "Did you need any help with assignments, or are you alright at the moment?" Thana offered again, she liked Louise, so tried to help her out as much as she could.

"Thanks." She giggled. "I wouldn't poison you. I made sure they were safe myself, but I'd like another opinion first." She smiled innocently. "I think I'm good assignment wise till next week, I wanted this week clear so I could work on these before tomorrow. For every sweet I've made I've made a sugarless version, and nut free versions, still working on gluten free ones but so far no success." She pulled out a long sheet of parchment showing all her inventions and on the other side the sugar free variant and after that nut free chocolates and ice creams.

"Sounds good, I am happy to try them!" Thana told Louise, "Hmm...I might be able to help with the gluten free" she said, before going back into deep thought momentarily. "Sorry!" she said coming out of her thoughts, and gently taking the paper. She read it unusually quickly and handed it back. "Wow! You really are a lolliologist! " Thana told Louise, "Do you plan on making any joke sweets?" she asked, curious. They were always helpful, and often hilarious. Thana moved then, going and putting her book back, before grabbing another and plopping back down next to Louise. This time the book was in German, Thana read any book. Often in any language, not noticing that other people didn't.

"Joke sweets? Like putting spicy centres into them? Or or making your whole mouth turn blue or green or purple!" Maybe but I think I wont be able to compete with Weasley wizard wheezes on that front. I'll leave that up to them...unless I ask if they'd be interested in buying a share of the products to change into trick sweets. I'd have a contract with both Honeydukes and www. Hmm Doesn't sound like a bad business plan." She grinned at that.
"I may have to think of getting help though or put the ideas on hold." Lou looked over seeing her friend was engrossed in reading and just smiled, pulling out her medical journal so she could get some research done on how healers worked and finding out new spells. Since her letters with Lady Eleanor she'd been interested in healing as a career, especially if it helped children who couldn't attend Hogwarts, perhaps she'd be able to give lessons while at the hospital too? Now there was an idea.

Thana was interested to find out why Louise was interested in Healing, so she asked. "Louise, why do you want to do healing?" She asked in all sincerity. She hadn't picked Louise to be the healing type. "I mean I can understand it, but I didn't pick you to be the one to do that" she explained to her friend. Before going back to the book, it was on the three brothers. The Deathly Hallows. But it was in German, so Thana got to translate it, which didn't take any time at all. Then Thana had a thought pop into her head. "Hey Louise, what other languages do you know?" she asked.

"I got the idea into my head after writing to..a friend I suppose, they work as a healer and mentioned the children that were in Hospital. I guess I feel bad for them missing out so researching ways to make their stay better is the forefront of my mind, thus the sweets. Plus if I become a healer then I can work with the kids and maybe organise lessons so they don't miss out on an education if their illness is long term." She replied, marking her place with her finger and looking up at Thana. "Some rudimentary welsh but not too much..I can ask directions and tell people where I live. Colours, time, weather. Basic stuff...why?" She asked, then spotted the tittle of the book Thana was reading. "Are you bilingual?"

Thana nodded as she listened to Louise explaining why she wanted to be a healer. "Those are probably the best reasons I have heard so far!" she told her friend, then listened as she asked the next question. "Are you bilingual?" Louise asked Thana. She thought for a moment before answering. "Of sorts" she started to reply. Thana didn't really feel the need to tell Louise she had always just been able to understand languages, it was something even she still didn't understand herself.

Thana had a sneaking suspicion that her gifts might have something to do with it, but she didn't know. "It is a hobby, my er...family were very multicultural, so I grew up with lots of different languages, you had to learn to keep up" she explained. It was three quarters of the truth, so Thana didn't mind saying it. "Well once those lolly's are ready let me know!" she told her friend, to be honest she missed not being able to have sweets, but it was a sacrifice she was willing to make. Healthy food was a must for Thana, she didn't mind it. She didn't eat a lot at the best of times, often being to busy for it. She wasn't anorexic, she just didn't need to eat. Thana then had a thought pop into her head, something she noticed a while ago. "Hey Louise, if you don't mind me asking. Who are you engaged to?"

Grinning with pride and then amazement at learning Thana could understand several languages. "Sounds amazing. Wish I could do that." She gestured to the box on the table. "I brought some with me, though I haven't made lollies yet I have gummy sweets and chocolates, all sugar free. You can take them with you if you like but I'd love to know what you think."

She pulled up her book again when Thana asked about her engagement. "Oh uh..Josh Murray." She mumbled, still not 100% enthusiastic about the engagement, it was a miracle that she wasn't opposed to it so much anymore but it was still a touchy subject that she tried not to think about.

Thana took the box, and looked at the contents inside, there were gummies, and chocolate. " they look amazing!!" Thana said to her friend. " you have done incredible" then Thana noticed the uncertainty in Louise's voice as she told Thana who her betrothed was. "Ok" was all Thana said to that, she could tell Lou didnt want to talk about it. Thana tried a gummy, hoping they were as good as they looked. She wasn't disappointed, they were amazing!! " if I had these everyday I might start eating normally!" Thana blurted out by accident. She didnt mean to tell Louise that!

When the conversation moved back to the sweets Louise's smile returned full force. "I'm glad you like them." She heard the blurt about eating normally but chose not to comment. "I can let you know when I make something new and you can try them for free if you like. Careful with the gummy cobras though they fight if you leave two alone for too long." She giggled, they didn't do much damage. "But if you want one with mixed flavours the bigger one will eat the smaller one and the flavours will blend. I'm thinking of making a game out of them of sorts, gummy cobra fighting, winner gets the mixed flavour or they can share it. Sound good?" She asked, genuinly interested in the other girl's opinion.

Thana was grateful that Lousie didn't say anything about her comment. She listened as she was told she could try the lollies for free. Thana shook her head, "Nah, I can't rip you off that much!" she told her friend. "I will pay for the lollies, that way you can keep makin them and you get a profit at the same time" she informed Louise. "I really like the idea of the snake game" Thana said, "It's a really cool idea, you could do it that when one eats the other, the loser turns into a liquid inside the winner. Not sure how you would do it, but it would make it even more awesome, but it's up to you. My dear Lolliologist " Thana said before looking for another book to read. "Oh bother" she said coming back and plopping next to louise yet again. "There's no more books to read!" Thana complained, it was true. In less than two weeks she had gone through the entire library. She knew every book in this place. "So..." Than said, she wasn't good at conversations, but she tried.

Louise smiled at the girl's generosity and just nodded knowing when she'd loose an argument. Besides everything helped these days, she'd started making some of the sweets herself rather than sending the ideas off for commission.
"I think that's how they end up anyway, and they get stripy bellies." She giggled thinking of the first time that had happened she'd panicked.

When Thana dramatically announced there were no books left Lou couldn't help feeling half amused half sorry for her bookish friend. "Is there a larger wizard library in the UK somewhere? What about the ministry? Surly you can owl and borrow books from there?" She asked, not sure if wizards did have libraries like that. "If not perhaps you could start one?" She offered teasingly. "Thana's national Library."

"What would be the point of starting one if I couldn't have any new books?" Thana replied jokingly. "I don't know, I get new ones every week...But at the rate I go through them....They don't last very long" she explained. "And I hope the lollies do that, that would make them even more yummy!" Thana started to get a cramp in her foot, she moved it accidently kicking over her drink. Without even realizing she did it, Thana used her Isolde. Her eyes glowed blue for a fraction of a second, freezing the water midair. "Oh no, not again" she thought to herself. Sometimes her Isolde made her to funny things, this was one of those instances. She quickly grabbed the glass, but she doubted it would of escaped Louise's noticed what had just happened.

"Well you'd have a place to keep all your new books, and libraries get donated new books all the time..at least they do in the muggle world. You could let others read all the books you have, and read all the books yourself more than once if you enjoy them. Not all of them have to be educational either, story books, cookery books, spell books, journals newspapers, archived laws, history books. All kinds, heck even muggle books would be useful, the wizarding world doesn't know nearly enough about muggle science in my opinion. If the information was readily available there'd be less hostility between them perhaps."

She explained, noticing the sudden glowing and the frozen water. She ignored it thinking it was just something some witches and wizards could do, it would be silly to act surprised by these things anymore. "I wouldn't mind helping with that, we could do research together on how to set up a library like that.." She grinned and added. "Perhaps it would rival the great library of Alexander? Every book ever written all under one roof, with new books coming in daily?"

Thana listened attentively as Louise suggested a library, "That would be incredible" she agreed. Luckily Louise didn't say anything about her...Incident, for that Thana was grateful. "Well let me sleep on it over the weekend, and I will have answer for you on Monday" Thana told Louise, with all of the money she had inherited she may as well build a library. It would come in useful, and besides she could buy a castle and turn it into one. Not as big as Hogwarts, but a decent sized castle where you would be able to read and read and read. "Oops there I go again" she thought to herself. It would be a good idea, and Louise could set up a Lolly shop. ....It would be amazing. "Oh damn you Louise, now you have me thinking too much!" she told her friend. "Well, I think it is time for some walking, would you like to come with?" Thana asked.

The young Slytherin just nodded and smiled seeing Thana space out, probably thinking about the amount of books she could fit into a building. Louise didn't mind, she was no stranger to staring into space. She giggled and fully accepted the blame for Thana's thinking. "I wouldn't mind a walk with you. Where should we go? Or just wander till curfew?" She asked, putting her things away and standing up ready to go.

"I don't mind, you choose" Thana said to Louise, packing up at the same time as her. " I don't really mind where we go, inside or outside. It's up to you" she said walking with Louise. "So what's it like in the Slytherin?" Thana asked, she returned some books on the way out, expertly remembering where they all went. Thana walked out, with Louise next to her.

"I suppose, a walk around the halls? It's a bit chilly to be walking outside now." She shouldered her bag and looped her arm through Thana's and smiled. "It's not as bad as people say, the dungeons are a bit chilly but the common room is warmer than the dorms, always got fires going. Once you get used to all the stone walls it doesn't feel much like a dungeon after a while, we do have a window that lets us see under the black lake, every now and then a Gryndilow will swim past or you'll see the squid in the distance. I saw a merman once I think he was pursuing a mermaid but he did press his face tot he glass, he looked surprised to see glass there." She giggled. "The dorms are tasteful, but the company leaves something to be desired. I stuck my room mates to the ceiling once." She grinned mischievously at that.

Thana agreed to walking the halls, she didn't fear whoever it was attacking students. She was more than capable of handling her own, that she knew she could do. Sadly being a Death Eater meant she knew how to protect herself and hurt others, she could kill just as easily as blinking. Thana hated herself for that, but there wasn't much she could do about that.

Thana listened as Louise told her of the Slytherin House, it seemed interesting. "Well Ravenclaw isn't that much more interesting, I don't think I have even met my House teacher yet!" she said. It was true, somehow Thana had just never spent time in the House, she was either in class, running between the ministry, or in the forest. She hardly slept or ate, but she didn't mind. She felt a sense of pride when Louise admitted to sticking her roommates to the ceiling. "Congratulations" Thana said to her friend, she hadn't picked her little 'lou to do something like that, even if she was a Slytherin!

Lou never feared the hallways, or the grounds for that matter, she seemed unaware of the attacks against students, that or she ignored the rumors as just rumors. She looked up to listen to Thana and smiled in understanding. "Fair enough, I don't think I see you around very much unless we're in the library, don't' worry I wont ask. I'm just happy I made a real friend for a change. I'm usually on my own or with Josh, not very often though, which is fine."

She giggled again, remembering the looks on the girl's faces when she had them all stuck face up against the ceiling. "Well they were being nosy and rude. I hope they got down alright."

Thana heard Louise's comment about the girls, she almost smiled at that. "What are you parents like?" she asked, she wanted to know about Louise, not because she was nosy, but she liked Louise and wanted to become friends with her. That's when she realized,,...Louise called her her friend. Thana just looked at her, 'You just said we were friends..." Thana stated, it was still a new concept for her..To have friends, she had only two, three now including Louise, Brooke was by chance, Shawn was because they both shared something. They were both different, but Louise...Louise was just ...different again. They actually became friends because they wanted to. Or so Thana hoped.

The smile faded fairly quickly when the conversation turned. "Well..My mum doesn't even know who I am and my dad, he's well he's not around much, I sometimes see him on special occasions. I haven't seen him since my engagement." She furrowed her brows, trying to work out why he never wanted to see her. "But I live with a very nice woman, Miss Sheridan, she looks after me and is trying to teach me everything purebloods ought to know. There's also Monsieur Clement, he's often there, he gave me some dueling lessons over the summer. He also found me when I went missing." Fearing she'd said a bit much she answered the next question.

"Of course, we are friends right? You let me borrow your books, and you agreed to try some of the sweets I made. Friends do that. I think, and I like hanging out with you, you're easy to talk to."
