She suspected the Ravenclaw Common Room to be quiet, what with the House being famous for its students to be studious and all that. It wasn't. It was full of chatter, with some people arguing about the uses of Belladonna in potions, some excitedly talking about the books they've read, people were doing homework together loudly, debating all the Transfiguration processes and how they could improve them, there were some unexplained explosions that Bea didn't really want to investigate, spells gone wrong... At one point, the whole room was filled with thick fog for at least ten minutes and nobody found it particularly unusual.
Bea loved it.
Back in France, her Common Room was quieter, more elegant and people were... calmer. Here, it was exciting, loud and it felt like anything could happen at any time. Of course, there were people who wanted peace and quiet and if such was the case, they went to the Library.
And then there were riddles! That was amazing, Bea thought. She loved having to think for herself in order to get into the Common Room, instead of just memorizing a password. She always felt like she was going into a secret passage, or standing in front of a Sphinx, getting ready to seize riches beyond imagination.
On one evening, Bea walked up all those stairs, only got lost once, answered the riddle - 'What word becomes shorter when you add two letters?' 'Short.' - and walked in the common room. She was greeted by fireworks of all colours, bouncing of the walls and she laughed delightfully, watching them until they faded away. It turned out two spells combined accidentally. The culprits were expecting Beatrice to deduct points, as she was a Prefect, but she only grinned and asked if they could do it again.
Afterwards, she settled at a table with her Transfiguration essay and stared at the blank piece of parchment for about five minutes. She had no idea how to go about it and so she looked around the common room, before shrugging and speaking up loudly.
"Does anyone know anything about Gamp's Law?"
