The Chatbox User's Handbook
which covers almost everything you need to know before participating in our 24/7 live chatbox here at HAF

1.The Chatbox is an OOC (out of character) safe place that allows users to communicate with one another in a non-rp mode. In the Chatbox we are all happy to talk to one another and it's important to realize that like any conversation the chatbox should not have any controversial topics such as: religion or politics. We are a tolerant site, and full of diversity so there is a chance someone won't agree with you. We want to avoid any and all argument, but if you see any issues that bothers you as a user, feel free to message any of the admins at HAF at any time.

2. Since the Chatbox is a time of fun and communication, try to make everyone welcome. If you have disagreements please just try to walk away or just ignore it. You need to be the bigger person, at all times. As stated before if you need someone to remedy the situation or defuse it, message the HAF admin team and we'll figure it out.

3. Also, being OOC means that we recommend you keep your IC (in character) differences or disputes where they belong, that being in the RP-universe. This also includes if your characters which are romantically involved (please avoid awkward PDA) simply because other users want to talk about different things.

4. If you are talking about a topic that makes a user uncomfortable, try to avoid it, if possible. Let's say it's about horror movies, if someone doesn't like it, try to avoid it, or stop the conversation. We want to include everyone to talk and share in the Chatbox. On that note, the Chatbox is also not the place to complain about your day/life. Please remember that the Chatbox is supposed to be fun and someone complaining in it will likely annoy/upset others in the chat.

5. Bullying: That is a big no-no. Respect needs to be shown to all users, and as the saying goes you need to give respect to earn it. Please be friendly to any and all users, or at least be courteous if you do not agree about something. Bullying is not tolerated and if you feel like you are being bullied, immediately contact an HAF admin so we could solve this. Bullying could result in a ban if it crosses the line.

6. No pestering allowed. This means that if someone has not posted to you, it's for a good reason. You can remind them once, maybe twice, but not so much that it could annoy the person. This constant pestering could result in them not wanting to RP with you. No pressure should be thrown at a handler if they choose not to post. It's their time to relax, as it is yours, if you wish to communicate with a handler regarding posts, private message them but no badgering in the Chatbox.

7 NO ADVERTISING IN CHATBOX! This is important, we have an OOC section dedication to promoting any other sites that catch your interest. Once you advertise on the OOC section of the site, everyone can see it there and you cannot link it to others on the Chatbox. This is another form of badgering and you will be warned about not doing it again if we catch you at it.

8. Remember to have fun and take advantage of the Chatbox. It's a great way to communicate, form friendships, relationships and  discuss plot ideas. When following these rules there is a smaller chance of arguments, disputes, or problems. But if you ever feel pushed to the side or ignored, the HAF admin team here will do it's best to make you feel included and an active member at our site. We're all here to get along and have fun and if we all follow the rules, we can't say why this can't happen.

Note: Failure to follow the rules or violate them intentionally will come with consequences. Depending on the situation the first offense could mean a ban of two days, second offense a ban of a week, and third time leading to a ban from the Chatbox indefinitely. Realize that this won't always be the case but will depend on the severity of the rule breaking. We want HAF to be fun, but it's important to remember there are rules for a reason.
