Jake Newbury
Age: 21
Notes: The genus Allium is the first thing that comes to mind, not all for pleasant reasons. I first recognized Jake from posters around the world - they were rarely glimpsed, but I remembered him nevertheless - as a Quidditch player. Unfortunately, as with all athletic people, I find their sweat repulsive; much like some find the scent of most plants of the Allium genus - or, more commonly known as onions. However, the analogy stopped there once I got to know him. Much like onions, Jake has a seemingly practical outer personality - the onion has no use for bright colours or fancy patterns to attract people, and neither does Jake. What you see is mostly what you get - until you begin to peal the layers back and discover the flesh inside; suddenly, a new aspect is seen. That can be said about Jake; in order to fully understand who he is one must spend time peeling back his layers.
Something else that struck me about Jake was his resemblance to a Bowtruckle. While not a plant in itself, these creatures are an important part of Herbology. Protectors of their home tree, they are usually very peaceful, until something or someone tries to damage its home tree. If such a situation occurs, they will do whatever it takes to keep the tree safe. Similarly, I believe that Jake, while normally a peace-keeper, would do anything to protect those he cares about: his 'home tree', so to speak.
