CoMC Lesson 2 (All Years)

Kira was beyond excited. Scientists in Romania and Belgium have been experimenting with crossbreeding and the results were the most adorable things the witch has ever seen. And she got them for the schools!

Crups and dragons.

Cragons!

They were tiny with scaly wings and some of them were furry, like crups and some of them scaly like dragons. They couldn't really breathe fire, only puffs of smoke, though it wasn't known whether it was only a prepubescent thing and if they would be able to breathe fire when fully grown. They'd just have to see!

This. This was why Kira loved the zoologist part of science. It was simply incredible.

She had received specific instruction on how to take care of them and has been doing that for the first part of school term, at her new house. She had to see whether the Cragons would play nicely with the students. The result was positive and the little creatures were finally ready to socialize with humans.

They were in a rather large playpen, acting exactly like puppies and Kira wondered whether she'd be able to ever stop thinking about how cute they were. She had everything she needed in boxes nearby and she waited for the students, hoping they'd forgive her for not being there before.

"La la da da da", the third year sang under her breath before continuing the song by humming, not having made the lyrics yet. But, she was getting there. She was sure of it!

It was a quiet day at Hogwarts, really. That and it was also the day that she'd finally be attending her lessons on Care of Magical creatures. The subject always fascinated her, having had stories told to her about a variety of species -both muggle and magical. It made her wonder, "What more?"

She couldn't exactly know if they were real, the creatures in her books, but in CoMC.. They were all real. The real deal, as muggles would call it.

She was nearing the area where the class was supposed to be held, spotting the professor and... and... What in Merlin's name were those? They looked like baby dragons. But.. Some of them were furry. At least, they looked furry from her vantage point.

Quickening her pace, she almost tripped as she finally reached the area. Playpen, to be more exact. "Gosh, this feels like a petting zoo.", she echoed her thoughts outloud, blushing once she realized what she said. "Greetings Professor.", she then greeted, bowing slightly, "I presume these aren't our run-o-the-hills dragon babies, aye?"

"Hello..", she greeted the other girl, just only realizing that she was there. "Presumably so, yes. Though, of what... Well, the professor knows that little fact. I don't. Kinda.", she muttered, staring at the furry creatures. She was sure they had dragon blood in them. The other though.. Furry, furry, furry.. Urgh.

Shiva was glad to be back and ready for her lessons, the Hufflepuff walked towards COMC and saw that there was a pretty good turn out so far and she was glad for that. Every Professor deserved to have at least two people in their class and knowing that so far all Professors are successful and what they do means something to every student deep down. "Morning" she greeted.

Violet wasn't particularly happy to have to go to Care of Magical, but she still pushed through her reluctance in order for her to get the best possible marks she could. She walked down to the area where the class was held, and as she reached the site, dropped her bag with a thump and leant casually against a tree, with her arms crossed.

Natasha was pleased to see Care of Magical Creatures on her timetable. It was one of the easier, more enjoyable subjects she had. So she made her way dow to the area where class was held happily. When she got there, she set down her book bag and took out her notebook, ready for notes "Morning Professor," she greeted quietly.

Lucy made her way down to where the Care of Magical Creatures class would be held, and saw that there was quite a few students already there. She moved over to where the group was congregating and dropped her book bag by her feet "Professor Reid," she acknowledged with a slight nod as she waited for class to begin.

Cassidy's favourite class was Care of Magical Creatures, and she couldn't wait for the lesson to start. She made her way, with a light skip in her step, down to where the class was held. She arrived and saw that a bunch of other people had already arrived, but it didn't seem like she was late, so she didn't worry too much. "Hello Professor," she said happily as she waited for class to start.

It was coming back around to that time of year again; the time of year when the days were shorter and the nights were longer, the air was colder, and to be honest, everything was a little bit more sanguine than any other time. Of course, for Joe, the winters were usually pretty rough: he was like a cat in some ways, he hated the wind and the rain, the cold wasn't exactly something he was particularly fond of, and his entire mood seemed to drop when the colder months came in.

This year would be different though, he decided as he pulled his arms around himself on his way down to Care of Magical Creatures. This year, he would stay happy, and that would be easy, of course, because he had everything he'd ever need. He actually had a reason to stay happy, someone to stay happy for, and Joe hadn't ever had that before. It was different.

It was nice.

The walk seemed to take longer with the cool air pushing against him, his nose going cold and his cheeks matching the Gryffindor ties for colour. That was okay, though. He took the time to admire the grounds in all their beauty, especially in the winter, the light dusting of snow making everything feel so much more festive. Festivities weren't something Joe often concerned himself with, but this year-... well, this year was something new.

Kedzie practically skipped to class and was excited to be going to her lessons once again. She was a energetic girl who loved going to school and rarely complained when there was something she couldn't do or didn't understand. The Ravenclaw finally got to her class and smiled at everyone brightly, they were all her classmates and deserved to be treated with kindness. "Morning" she said happily to everyone.

Mavis seriously hoped that this woman didn't come back to teach but apparently the gods were against her. All the Professors in Hogwarts were jokes and Mavis could careless if they came back or not, but there were times she'd spend nights wishing death or tragedy on them but apparently only on time it worked and that was on Professor Zanderson when something happened to her father. The thought caused her to smirk. She got to the class and ignored everyone there.

Bundled up as well as she could be, Rhian made her way down from the seventh floor, out the main door, and onto the grounds. Lately she'd been trying to catch up with Tess on the way down, walking to their classes together. Really, anything that would give them more time together. But with Care of Magical Creatures, she wasn't sure if the Slytherin would be joining. It was a class that neither of them had taken the time to invest in. Now that it was seventh year, and she had the flexibility for some electives, Rhian figured it wouldn't be a bad thing to try out. Especially since she didn't know what she wanted to do after Hogwarts.

Making her way down to the area for class, she heard some strange noises across the quiet snow drifts. It wasn't until she'd reached the other students that she actually understood what they were coming from.

"Oh!" she breathed. They were the strangest little hybrids she'd ever seen. Some were very close to looking like full dragons, but others had traits similar to a dog. It was interesting...and quite adorable. A small sigh escaped her as she thought of how much her boyfriend would have loved them. She wondered if they were too rare to consider getting one.

Shawn made his way across the grounds towards his Care of Magical Creatures class, excited as he always was before arguably his favorite course. A lot of the class was already there so he had to pick his way through until he was standing beside Lucy. "Hello Professor Reid." After he greeted the teacher he looked for what they would be learning about today, and found what looked to be a mix between dragons and something else playing with each other on the ground. They were pretty cute, really.

Alyson was glad to hear that one of the Professors were back and ready to teach again, then she heard it was both Professor Reese and Professor Reid and was glad to hear this once more. The Gryffindor walked to the class and saw everyone that usually comes to the class already there. She smiled at her friends before looking at the Professor, she hadn't changed at all which is a good thing. "Morning Professor Reid" she greeted the woman.

COMC was back and running once again, he enjoyed working with the Creatures that Professor Reid would bring in, it was an amazing sight to see every time he entered her classroom, a lot of people become Aurors when they're finished but not him, he wanted to be something else and now he knew exactly what. He wanted to work with the animals/creatures that existed in the Wizarding world.

Kira greeted the students as they came and was highly taken aback when she saw how many students turned up. It was a large class this time and it made her incredibly happy to see so many people were interested in her subject. Of course, she knew it was considered an easy grade, but she didn't mind. There had to be some easy subjects, to lessen the stress.

"Welcome, everybody! To those of you who don't know me, I'm Professor Kira Reid and it's a pleasure to meet you all. I want to apologize for not being here until now, but there was some personal things I had to take care of. To make it up to you, I brought in a treat today." she said, motioning to the playpen.

"They're called Cragons and they're a hybrid between crups and dragons. My brother was working on the research and experimenting that lead to them, so he was able to provide them for my class. Now, they've been classified as class XXX by the Ministry, which, as I hope you all know, means that competent wizards and witches should be able to cope with." she smiled at her students, conveying that she trusted them to be competent. Well, she hoped they would be. However, she needed them to know this wasn't something they could do half-heartedly. "Which, in turn means that I'll be supervising you when you'll be dealing with them and any misbehavior on either part won't be tolerated."

Kira did a quick head count before continuing. "What we're going to do, is I'm going to break you into groups of three. Each group gets two Cragons and notes on how to take care of them. To save time, I'm going to assign who's in which group."

"First group, Miss Newbury, Miss Loraine and Miss Waters. Second group, Miss Valdis, Mr. Murray and Mr. Granger. Third group, Miss Stonem, Miss Montez and Mr. Travers. Fourth group, Miss Lynch, Miss Benrik and Miss Holmes. Fifth group, Miss Young, Miss, Joilet and Mr. Astrid." Kira announced and gave each student a parchment with instructions on it. One student per group also received a basket that held items they would need during the lesson.

"Come get your cragons."

Mavis was semi glad that there was another Slytherin in her group, it would have been better if there was another one besides her and Tess but she wasn't going to push her luck because all she wanted was to leave. There was always a weird smell with the Creatures that Kira always brought in, so it was gross. Mavis just wanted someone to take her away from this hell hole they call a class.
