Here comes the Sun (Victoria&Allegra) Empty
PostSubject: Here comes the Sun (Victoria&Allegra)   Here comes the Sun (Victoria&Allegra) EmptyMon Sep 01, 2014 11:45 am

Allegra gave her parents a kiss on the cheek each before picking up Lupa and looking at the train. The travel there had been exhausting, luckily they'd arrived a few days beforehand with a Hogwarts professor to help get them through to wizarding London, to get accustomed to the difference a bit.

The cold weather was a bit of a shock for the girl who'd never been out of Mexico, but being a very healthy girl the risk of getting ill was nearly non-existent. It didn't help that Allegra didn't really anticipate it being so chilly and thus hadn't really dressed for the occasion. True she had a cardigan on. But that cardigan was over a cropped top and a long, airy skirt. Her uniform in her canvas shoulderbag and her dog in her arm she let her parents hug her one last time, murmuring reassurances.

("You'll do beautifully, mi corazon, as you always do. We love you so much and we'll write you twice a week." Raphael whispered, tearing up slightly, but grinning with pride. "Mija, you're so brave, you'll see, travelling the world is what people have been doing since the dawn of time, this is the most natural thing in the world. We're so proud of you." Alma added lovingly, giving her and Lupa one last kiss.)

Allegra was honestly sad to be apart from her parents, so far apart for so long. But she'd see them for christmas and they had promised to send her pictures of her plants growth process and they'd send her sugar skulls for her favorite holiday, Dia de los Muertos. And anyway, they were connected, they loved each other. And such full love and acceptance formed an unbreakable bond.

She felt better just thinking about it. And the girl was indeed very curious about her first year at Hogwarts, one of the top wizarding schools in Europe and about the people she'd meet.

And the plantlife. That was extremely alluring.

Sitting in a compartment alone, Allegra let Lupa stay cuddled close on her lap as she pulled a small potted cactus in a tiny terranium out of her bag.

"Hola, mi querida planta. ¿Estás bien? Te llevaré en el terrario más grande pronto."

((Hello, my dear plant. Are you alright? I'll get you in the bigger terrarium soon.))

So preoccupied was she with the well-being of her plant, that she only noticed someone was at the door when Lupa looked up and wagged her tail.

"Hello," Allegra smiled, looking up as well, her fingertips trailing gently along the plant, between the pricks. "Can I help you?"

Here comes the Sun (Victoria&Allegra) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Here comes the Sun (Victoria&Allegra)   Here comes the Sun (Victoria&Allegra) EmptyMon Sep 01, 2014 4:43 pm

Victoria had had a long, difficult summer. The attack had left the young witch less than okay and in fact had left her more than traumatised from the whole ordeal. Though despite all that, Victoria hadn't changed very much towards the world. She still loved everyone around her and found joy in the idea of bringing happiness to others. The only thing that had changed was the fact Victoria couldn't return to Salem.

The summer had been much the same for Victoria, with a trip to (the street in America) to collect her books and get new robes for the up coming year. Of course, Victoria had taken out more books than she needed for the year so that she could make sure she was still ahead (not that Victoria ever realised how vastly ahead she was).

The only difference that came this year however was waking in the early hours of the morning in America and heading to England with both her parents. The trip to Diagon Alley was a new experience Victoria hadn't been ready for and she was amazed. Her parents didn't miss the chance to take a picture with Victoria's camera, trying to keep her calm with the notion of new memories before they got the transfer to King's Cross

Victoria was excited to be starting a new school, though in hindsight she didn't look any less enthusiastic as she always did. After they'd crossed through the boundary and in to the station, her face had lit up at the view of the train and she'd turned to her parents for confirmation that this was the right place. They'd given it, of course, and half an hour later Victoria was lugging get baggage down the train to try and find a place. She didn't know anyone and everywhere was full. But the witch was optimistic and kept looking until finally she found a compartment with just one girl in it. Giving a small knock on the door, Victoria opened it gently

"Hello, can I help you?"

Victoria paused, momentarily forgetting everything as she was confronted by a non - European accent. "Hi," She started nervously, a smile on her lips conveying the nerves Victoria hadn't felt in years. "I like your plants, dangerous but intriguing! My name is Victoria, can I join you because I can't find anywhere else to sit, please?" She asked politely before motioning to the aisle. "I can sit in the hallway if you want privacy, so please don't feel you have to say yes! But I have sandwiches if you want to share!"

The smile on her lips turned hopeful in that moment but Victoria didn't know how this was going to go.

PostSubject: Re: Here comes the Sun (Victoria&Allegra)   Here comes the Sun (Victoria&Allegra) EmptyMon Sep 01, 2014 5:09 pm

Allegra looked up at the American girl as she spoke and smiled at how nice she seemed.
"I like your plants, dangerous but intriguing! My name is Victoria, can I join you because I can't find anywhere else to sit, please?

"Thank you, this one is Benedicto, he's four years old. And this, " She gestured to the dark chihuahua on her lap, "Is Lupa. And I am Allegra Montez. You are very welcome to sit with me, I don't know anyone, yet. So I'm very pleased to meet you." Allegra smiled warmly at Victoria and Lupa hopped off her lap and over to sniff Victoria excitedly.

"I have some tamales and quesedillas if you want some, as well." then, realising the girl would probably not know what that was she explained, "the tamales are stuffed with corn and beans and quesedillas are just cheese melted in a tortilla" her explenation might be lacking, "It's vegetarian," she offered as a last added note, unsure if that made a difference to the girl.

Allegra didn't care if others ate meat or not, they did what they did and she did what she did. That was alright by her book. And she liked the looks of the girl before her, Victoria.
The Mexican student never had trouble finding friends, despite not yet having abest friend, and hoped that perhaps Victoria would be a friend she could stick to, still a bit nervous about being in a whole new school in a culture so different from hers.

PostSubject: Re: Here comes the Sun (Victoria&Allegra)   Here comes the Sun (Victoria&Allegra) EmptyTue Sep 02, 2014 5:54 am

When Allegra explained the food she had - not knowing the names at first but recognising them to be Mexican - Victoria smiled. "They sound lovely! I only have meat sandwiches though, I'm sorry!" Victoria explained. "But I do have chocolate if you want some of that instead?" She added, knowing she'd got more than enough because her mom always gave her too much food for the journey to school. Especially seeing as Victoria, being so small, didn't eat very much at the best of times, but her nerves made eating less of a priority.

"As the witch before her explained that the plant had a name, Victoria smiled. She'd always had a knack for naming things even if they weren't animated objects. "I think Benedicto is a lovely name!" The witch offered before noting the small dog that made a move for her. Creatures, magical or otherwise, were Victoria's favourite thing in the world. They were fascinating and normally so very loving.

"Leaning down, Victoria patted the chihuahua, or Lupa, very gently. When that was accepted in a mixture of excitement from both of them, Victoria let out a soft giggle and scratched behind the dogs ear gently. "She's amazing!" Victoria breathed, gently scooping the dog up and putting her back next to Allegra. "And it's lovely to meet you, of course!" Victoria added, pulling her trunk in the compartment and shutting the door behind her so Lupa couldn't go for a run down the train.

However, after all of that, Victoria realised that despite the witch across from her looking around her age, she didn't know anybody. In the usual Wormwood inquisitive nature, Victoria's brow furrowed slightly. "If you don't mind me asking, how do you not know anyone here?" She asked politely, her eyes quite clearly showing she was genuinely interested. "It's my first year here too. I went to Salem academy before." Victoria explained, not going in to too much detail because this question wasn't about her.

"I love chocolate, we- my papi and I, always make it ourselves, it's so much fun." The girl grinned, setting Benedicto gingerly back in her bag and taking two little tubs of food out and setting them on the little half-table that came out of the wall, "Please, help yourself." Allegra offered happily, taking out a lukewarm quesedilla and taking a few bites.

"I think Benedicto is a lovely name!"
"Gracias, I named him after my old herbology teacher, he was my favorite." The young girl explained, thoughtfulness touching her features as she remembered that she wouldn't see him again until christmas. But her new teachers were sure to be just as amazing!

Watching Lupa playfully licking at the girl Allegra laughed, "She gets excited very quickly, I think she likes you!" The dog nuzzled her side when Victoria sat her back down next to her and Allegra gave her a little kiss on her head; Lupa looked so pleased she was shaking.

Then again, she was always shaking. And always pleased. Hmm.

"If you don't mind me asking, how do you not know anyone here?"

"Lovely to meet you, too. I went to a public school in Mexico city until this year, I wanted to see other places and cultures so my teachers helped me find a good school to go to. This is the longest I've ever been apart from my parents. And my first time out of South America." Allegra explained, pleasantly surprised when Victoria told her it was her first year as well.

"Oh I'm glad I'm not the only one, I'm in fifth year, and you? Perhaps we can help each other out."

Making chocolate sounded like great fun to Victoria, it was something she'd never tried before but she would love to. "I know at my old school the elves didn't mind us going in to the kitchens, maybe it'll be the same here and you could show me how to make chocolate, if you'd like to?" The witch suggested with an eager grin. Merlin Victoria hoped the witch would agree, it sounded like so much fun. "I've heard British chocolate tastes different to American, so it'll be interesting..." Victoria added thoughtfully.

"You're from Mexico?" Victoria gushed with her new information, looking at the two boxes and taking one of the melted cheese tortillas and tucking in hungrily. It was so good, too, something she told Allegra only a moment later. "This is amazing! My mommy doesn't cook this kind of food!"

When told that this was Allegra's first time out of South America, Victoria let out a soft chuckle. "Mine too! Well, out of the United States. And I've only been to a few stares outside of my own. Mainly for school!" She explained, realising just how uncanny this was. "I'll be going in to my fifth year too, though I'm not sure which house. I think I've got it down to two so far, but I'm not sure which one I fit the most. I read about it in Hogwarts; A History. Are you familiar with that book?" Victoria asked, completely unashamed with her bookish nature.

"I know at my old school the elves didn't mind us going in to the kitchens, maybe it'll be the same here and you could show me how to make chocolate, if you'd like to?"

"Sure, that sounds great! I'm excited to go to a boarding school, everything seems like it's going to be completely different."
Delighted that the other girl liked the food she nodded her thanks with a grin, "San Miguel, it's near Mexico City. My Papi cooks most of our food, Mama works in the late afternoon." Allegra explained matter-of-factly, but in her ever-friendly tone, fondly remembering her father's habit of singing in the kitchen.

"Yes! Yes, I've read about houses, we don't have those in my old school. I told my parents about them and my mama says I might be a gryffindor, my papa says hufflepuff. But they aren't sure, they didn't go to Hogwarts, so they're really happy I'm trying it out."
Back in her old school Allegra had been one of many witches and wizards who were raised by muggle or squib parents, there were no purebloods in her area and only a handfull of halfbloods, thus resulting in her not knowing that in Great Britain and America it wasn't as common as she thought it was.

But even with that knowledge she could never be ashamed of her parents. They loved her and she loved them. That was all that mattered.

"Do you have any siblings?" she asked curiously as Lupa curled up on her lap to sleep.

"Boarding school isn't so bad, promise!" Victoria told the girl before her encouragingly. "You make so many friends that you don't notice the time away from your parents so much. And you can write all the time, if you want to!" The witch explained happily. Being away from her parents didn't affect Victoria too much because she was forever writing home about the things she'd discovered.

"I've heard of Mexico City. It's really hot there, right? I'm from Minnesota so we don't get much heat. Salem was warmer during the summer months but nothing too hot!" Victoria explained, thinking back to the nice summer heat. Unlike her brother, Victoria got a light tan when she went in the sun, not that she was interesting in the notion of being tanned. Victoria was happy how she was, and probably always would be.

"Those two houses are really good! Well, all of them are good! I'm not so sure about the houses ideology, it creates feuds. I've heard Slytherin and Gryffindor don't get on, I hope that isn't true..." she explained, going off to her own little world as she thought about how she could stop people from holding on to those prejudices that were unfounded.

"I have my big brother, Jake. He finished school a number of years ago, he's currently retraining to be an Auror." Victoria explained proudly, the adoration between the siblings quite clearly reflected in the smile on Victoria's lips as she spoke of her older brother. "He was a little worried about me coming to Hogwarts, but he said he'll come over when he can. What about you?"

"Yes I will certainly write them as much as possible. I'm just not sure how to reach them, I heard there were owls at school, but I don't know if they can stand the climate down there. I'll just ask a teacher when we arrive." she concluded, happy to visit the Owlery anyway; any chance to meet new animals.

"Yes, it's very hot and dry where I am, though the summer can have some humidity. Minnesota is north, right?" The young girl asked. For someone so connected to Earth, Allegra's geography concerning the United States above her was abysmal.

Allegra nodded in agreement, she'd never understood why people fought out of principle. Either there was something concrete worth fighting for or there was no reason to argue. In her mind it was just that simple. Her family had raised her that way.

"He was a little worried about me coming to Hogwarts, but he said he'll come over when he can. What about you?"
Listening to the girl speak of her older brother made Allegra smile widely, genuinly pleased by the clear affection there seemed to be, something Allegra always cherished in people she met. Seeing people have happy relationships with the people in their life was just so...satisfying to her.

When the question bounced back to her Allegra took a deep breath absentmindedly, "I do." and that was all she said and all she would say. It wasn't as if she was ashamed of Sofia- she just didn't know anything about her apart from what her parents knew of their six month old infant. And that wasn't much.

Back home in San Miguel their small community knew about Sofia, most adults had known her as a baby, and she never had to explain it to anybody. Here, she realised, it was different. And an unknown fear crept up, fear that no one would understand. So the youngest Montez decided she'd keep it to herself at first; not lying, just not telling.

"What did you mean with come over, how can he visit?" she asked curiously, parts because she truly wanted to know and part to divert the attention from herself.

"The owls should be okay, but I think if you're doing transatlantic mail, you should send a bigger bird so that it can deal with the distance." Victoria supplied helpfully. "Though they may go to the Ministry who then take them to different countries... I'm not sure, I'll have to look it up in the library when we get there. I'll let you know!" She added, looking rather thoughtful for a moment as she tried to grasp the situation as best she could.

"I like the warmth." Victoria replied simply, before nodding at the question. "It's one of the furthest north states there is. I live in the middle of the state." She added a moment later with a smile. "It's nice there, but the weather isn't as nice as most places, from what I've heard at Salem, anyway." She concluded with a small shrug. Weather was inconsequential to Victoria, she was happy come rain or shine.

When the witch before her stated she did have siblings, but didn't go in to any detail, Victoria took a moment to finish the snack Allegra had shared with her in the hope more information would follow. Nothing came after that, and Victoria didn't press, simply because she knew that there were boundaries to the questions you could ask, even if you thrived for the knowledge.

"What did you mean with come over, how can he visit?"

"Jake teaches at Hogwarts. He's the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher there. He used to teach flying, but was asked to take on this role. It's quite an achievement really, for his age. But we can spend a little amount of time together in the breaks and at lunch time when he's teaching. And he'll probably meet me in Hogsmeade sometimes too." Victoria explained with a happy smile, seeing Jake would make everything so much easier for the witch, but she wasn't reliant. The young witch had always been independent in most things, especially now she could do everything everyone else did for herself.

At the suggestion to take a larger owl Allegra nodded, happy when the girl said she'd look it up. That was nice, she thought,of the girl- Victoria- to offer that. This new school was looking even better now.

"I'm interested as to how the snow and winter is going to be. Certainly a bit of an adjustment." She pondered aloud. Odd as it may sound to her new classmates, Allegra had never been in real snow. Her teacher had once made it snow in the classroom around christmas time, but that was magic. Not the same as real snow falling from the sky. Another thing to look forward to.

"That's so cool!" she exclaimed, "I look forward to his class then, I'm not much of a flyer but I do love sports, most of all fútbol, I guess that's soccer to you in the States. Is Hogsmeade nice, do you know?"

"I'm interested as to how the snow and winter is going to be. Certainly a bit of an adjustment."

"Oh, don't worry, you'll get used to it. Apparently Hogwarts gets so much more snow than Salem, I don't know if it will rival Minnesota though, Minnesota gets crazy!" Victoria explained with a small shake of her head. "We can build snowmen though, I'm sure! That'll be fun!"

"I look forward to his class then, I'm not much of a flyer but I do love sports, most of all fútbol, I guess that's soccer to you in the States. Is Hogsmeade nice, do you know?"

"Soccer... Oh! Muggle game, Jake used to like playing that when he was younger at school. But he was more in to American Football, but he used to try to teach me soccer. I was never much good at it, but it is fun!" The witch explained excitedly, remembering the last time she played was before her accident. Maybe she could try again and see if she got any better.

"I've never been to Hogsmeade. I've had chocolates from there though - they were amazing!" Victoria replied, looking at the sandwiches she hadn't eaten. She still wasn't hungry, perhaps she could give them to the house elves, or a magical creature before they got to the Great Hall so they didn't go to waste...

Nibbling on a quesedilla Allegra listened intently to the other girl and smile at the thought of building snowmen together, which was a joyful one.

"Soccer is great, I love it, I also used to run track in my old school, I wonder if Hogwarts offers any other sports...I've got a ball in my trunk, we can play sometime if you want?" Her voice hopeful and warm as she dug out some dog treats for Lupa that the chihuahua gobbled up so eagerly she coughed slightly.

"Chew before you swallow, I always tell you that but you never listen," she murmured, pressing her nose to Lupas as she finished. Silly thing.

"Then I look forward to going there!" Allegra laughed.

"You play soccer and run? That's so cool! I don't know if Hogwarts have those, but it will be really good if they do! Though I guess you can go for a run in the grounds if they don't, I'm pretty sure that you'll be okay with that." Victoria explained with a small smile, checking the small watch on her wrist and noting that they were already well in to their trip. Time always flew when you were having fun, it seemed.

"And of course we can play, but I might not be much good..." Victoria replied to the question, it had been a while, but she would most certainly give it a shot. "What position do you play? Jake and I just used to kick it to each other, or he would go in goal and I would take shots. I fell over a lot though... made him laugh." The witch remembered fondly, her smile blossoming once more.

When the attention was drawn to the dog that was coughing slightly, Victoria frowned only slightly. "Is she okay?" The witch asked as Allegra told the dog to eat slowly. "If you give her one at a time she might chew on it a little more." Victoria offered helpfully, knowing a little from Care of Magical Creatures. "Though, I believe Chihuahuas are simply more excitable than other dogs and try to do everything much quicker. She'll be okay."

"I played midfield. Your brother sounds really fun, how old is he?" If he taught at Hogwarts thenhe couldn't be that young, but the way she talked about him and how close they wereit sounded like they weren't very far apart either. Allegra wondered what Sofia would have been like, if they would have been like Jake and Victoria seemed to be.
But she quickly bat that thought out of her head.

"Oh Lupa always does that, she gets so excited to see- well- anything and everything. She always chokes a bit on the first bite. She's fine, I always tell her to slow down. But I guess we have that in common, huh girl?" she nudged Lupa gently with the tips of her fingers and Lupa hummed in contentment after having safely devoured her snack. "I'm easily excited as well, my friends say, at least." The girl laughed.

"I played midfield. Your brother sounds really fun, how old is he?"

Victoria nodded at the position, knowing enough to know that it was one of the better roles in the game. That must mean that Allegra was very good at soccer, the witch decided, smiling warmly at the witch before her. The comment on Jake made the witch nod enthusiastically. "Jake's very fun, and sweet! He just turned twenty-one, actually. He spent his birthday with his girlfriend, Mari, and then we spent the day after together. It was great fun. He's six years older than me." The witch explained, going overboard on the information as she usually did. The gap had never bothered them though, Jake had always loved her very much, and she loved him just as much. Nothing would change that.

The additional information on the excited nature of the witch before her made Victoria beam. "Jake always says I get too excited too. Mostly with books, he doesn't like books and says that I get way too excited for something so boring. But honestly, the world is so exciting, I don't understand how you couldn't be excitable!" Victoria gushed, happy that someone at the school would understand her love for, well, everything in life.

"I really hope were in the same house." Victoria told the witch as an after thought, looking out the window momentarily. When she looked back, Victoria's face had lit up a slight bit more. "It looks like we're nearly there. We should get changed! I'll get the blinds!" Victoria explained, getting to her feet and pulling them down so that people walking down the aisle of the train couldn't see as they changed in to their robes.

"Jake's very fun, and sweet! He just turned twenty-one, actually. He spent his birthday with his girlfriend, Mari, and then we spent the day after together. It was great fun. He's six years older than me."

Around the age Sofia would be...In December, at least-
Allegra thought fleetingly, "That's cool, same age as my sister." She didn't see the harm in mentioning that, she had a feeling Victoria wouldn't press her for details.

Grinning with glee at the discovery that Victoria was just as easily enthused as she was Allegra felt relief. Already she felt like she had a friend at this new school, in this new world.
"I hope we are, too. It's nice to have a friend before it all starts" she remarked.

Regarding her uniform with some slight suspicion she began to change when Victoria pulled the blinds down. The grey seemed to match the sky, but it wasn't itchy, thank Bahlam. Warmer than her usual attire, but she'd need it she supposed. She left her hair open as she buttoned up her blouse.

"Well, this is certainly a big difference to Mexico." she looked down at herself and then at her friend, smiling softly as she put her other clothes in her bag where Lupa snuggled into them.

"That's cool, same age as my sister."

Victoria smiled at the notion of having something in common with the witch. Nobody at Salem seemed to have siblings that much older, it seemed six years was a big gap, but Victoria didn't think about it too much. "That's really cool!" Victoria replied happily, genuinely meaning it. She didn't press though, because it seemed Allegra didn't wish to speak to people about that.

"I hope we are, too. It's nice to have a friend before it all starts"

"But we can still be friends if we're not, we just won't share a common room, though I don't think that will matter too much!" Victoria added quickly, making it quite clear that she didn't wish to not be friends if they were in different houses.

As the duo got changed, Victoria was not discrete in her changing. She'd never had the capability of being worried about people seeing. Whilst she was in a wheelchair she'd had no choice but to let her carer help her change each day. Modesty had gone out the window a long time ago. That wasn't to say Victoria was in your face with the whole notion, the witch slipped her clothes off and redressed without much delay, but in no way hiding her slender figure either.

"Well, this is certainly a big difference to Mexico."

"You look just as beautiful as you did before!" Victoria replied as she took the witch in, folding her clothes up nicely and slipping them in to her trunk. She meant it too, Allegra was vastly beautiful, and the clothes made no difference. "And these uniforms are so much cooler than the Salem ones. We had to wear blazers, I prefer these jumpers, even if they are grey... I might have to accessorise them..." She added thoughtfully, wondering how she might be able to encompass her love of pink in to her uniform as she sat back down.

Here comes the Sun (Victoria&Allegra) Empty

"You look just as beautiful as you did before!"
Allegra smiled, "Thank you, you look so cute" she grinned, admiring the slim girl in her uniform as she spoke of adding her own touch to it. Allegra decided to do the same as she pulled her hair into a ponytail with a green scrunchie. Gotta start somewhere.

The rest of the train ride was short, but fun, both girls talking enthustiastically all the way to the carriages. Allegra didn't comment on the fact that they seemingly pulled themselves because she'd read they were pulled by thestrals, instead ust talking to Victoria excitedly about the mermaids she'd seen in Mexico and the plants she had brought along.

The sorting was just as happy as the ride. Both she and Victoria became members of Hufflepuff house. All in all it seemed the girls were just....destined to be inseperable.
