It had been a month since Victoria had moved to Hogwarts now. And for the most part, everything was going smoothly. She was making friends quite comfortably, which made the move much easier, and classes were stepping up a little bit for her O.W.L.S. Victoria was studying hard, and leaving herself far too tired. It meant sleep came well, especially after Quidditch practices.

However, that evening her sleep was not as focused as it normally was.

The witch tossed in her bed as the familiar images of the attack came to the forefront of her mind. The screaming, the various flashes of light, the horrific images of her friends falling to the ground. Even though she hadn't seen most of the people getting hurt, her dreams filled in the parts where Mary went down after being hit by a spell, of how Carson struggled to get her away from the scenes. But as always, the very worst part of the whole attack made itself so very clear. Constance Vale stood in the centre of the picture, plunging a dagger in to the young Belladonna Victoria had barely known, and then turned her wand on herself.

The green jet of light made the witch cry out in her sleep, telling whoever would listen to stop. But it never worked. The green would flash again and again, and her friends would fall, until eventually Victoria managed to push through the crowds, trying to save her friends. The point she woke up was always the same, she could never get away from the green jet of light that hurtled towards her. That hit her right in the chest no matter how much she tried to move.

With a gasp of pain that was only in her head, Victoria sat upright, her frame trembling and a wet substance trailing down her cheeks. Tears. Her breathing was coming out heavily as the witch focused on where she was, safe, away from the Widows. The Widows were gone... But that didn't help as she sat cuddling Mr Snuggles to her chest and breathing in the air around her deeply to try and relax. It didn't work though, and the witch looked around the room before her. She never closed the curtains on her poster bed, privacy wasn't something that bothered her. From where she sat, Victoria thought about her options before looking sideways at the bed beside her.

Allegra's bed.

The witch gently slid out of bed, aware that tears were still rolling down her cheeks, but not yet sure of how to stop them. Mr Snuggles remained firmly cuddled to her as she pulled the curtain back on Allegra's bed. "Allegra..." Victoria whispered through the darkness, uncertain on how to explain to her friend. "I can't sleep." The witch managed shakily. She hoped the witch was awake, she couldn't go anywhere else now, she wanted Jake, but he wasn't here.

Allegra would know though, surely? The witch seemed to understand her enough, from what she knew so far.

Allegra was a deep sleeper, always had been. Blessed with the ability to sleep anywhere and at any time. Well, less blessed and more trained. Sometimes there would be riots against the PRI and she'd have to sleep in the living room through shouting and the sound of gunshots, so she got used to doing just that. Those nights her parents wouldn't go to sleep, or they'd take turns, but just in case the riots turned sour one of them was always awake and all of them were together.

But nightmares never really plagued her, despite the aggresive climate that clouded over her home country. Lupa was snuggled up on her pillow that night, like she always was, cold nose against Allegra's cheek, tiny body snuggled into Allegra's sleep Mexico jersey from the past World Cup, it was old and faded but she loved it because her Dad had bought it for her for her birthday that year.

Tonight however her sleep was interrupted and Allegra sat up slightly, Lupa opening one eye blearily, "Victoria?"

"I can't sleep."
The witch's voice shook and Allegra blinked herself awake, opening her duvet and beckoning Victoria to come in as she scooted to make room. "What's wrong?" she whispered softly, picking up Lupa to let the dog snuggle up to Victoria, licking her hand in an attempt to calm her down.

"Victoria?"

"Mmhmm." The witch replied softly, trying to be quiet so not to wake anyone else. It wouldn't do well to wake the whole dormitory up just for this. But, Allegra would understand, she was sure that the Mexican witch would.

"What's wrong?"

"I h-had a nightmare." The witch replied, slipping in to the bed beside her friend. Mr Snuggles stayed close to her chest as Lupa licked her hand gently. She pet the small dog softly, wiping her eyes with her free hand. "I got scared." Victoria managed softly, looking up at the other witch uneasily.

"Can I stay here for a little while? Until I feel safe?" Victoria asked, unsure if Allegra would be okay with that.

Seeing the girl was crying Allegra reached out to wrap an arm around Victoria.
"When I have a nightmare my parents told me to go back to my nightmare and change it into something nice. Maybe that would help?" she whispered before grabbing her wand, drawing the curtains and casting silencing charms. Just in case Victoria had another nightmare and woke up screaming.

"Can I stay here for a little while? Until I feel safe?"
"Sure, it's fine. I like cuddling anyway." she smiled reassuringly as she got comfortable with the other girl, Lupa moving to be close at Victoria's back. "If you want to talk about it you can."

With Allegra's arm moving around her waist, Victoria settled a little, softly wiping away the tears that were trying to stain her cheeks in that moment. She whispered a soft thank you to the witch, because it was nice to know someone here supported her.

"When I have a nightmare my parents told me to go back to my nightmare and change it into something nice. Maybe that would help?"

"G-go back?" Victoria asked, her eyes going wide with fear at that idea, before she shook her head most profusely. She most certainly couldn't go back. "I don't think you can make brutal attacks... n-nice." The witch whispered, her words getting stuck in her throat. Oh, how she had tried to get that one to work, but she couldn't work out how you made seeing someone die in to something nice.

"Sure, it's fine. I like cuddling anyway."

"Cuddling is the best." Victoria agreed in nothing more than a whisper as her own arm wrapped around Allegra in return. It was helping her relax though, physical closeness always made Victoria feel better she'd found.

"If you want to talk about it you can."

"I... had a dream I was back at Salem. B-before the summer." Victoria started, wondering if Allegra would know what had happened. "There was an attack on the school, and... it... there were fatalities... I... It replays in my d-dreams." She explained, her voice slowly losing it's volume and the words slowing down as she realised what she'd said. The witch merely held her teddy closer and shifted closer to the witch for the added comfort in that moment. Allegra was safe, Victoria had decided that very, very quickly.

As Victoria told her about the attacks Allegra's eyes widened, softening with sympathy. Swallowing the small lump in her throat she pulled the young girl closer, hugging her warmly.

"Okay so, making it nice won't work. How about thinking of nice things just for fun? Like we are totally going sledding together when it snows here. And we're going to make chocolate from scratch and eat ourselves silly. And if you want to it'd be great if you could come visit me at home in the winter holidays." the girl ventured gently, trying to both distract and cheer up the girl in her arms, gently moving some hair back out of Victorias face.

"it's going to be okay."

Victoria appreciated the fact the witch pulled her closer, tucking her head against the witch's chest. The soft sound of Allegra's heart was comforting, much like Jake's was. A steady rhythm which she could set her breathing too to help her calm down. Though, Victoria reflected a moment later, Allegra's beat a little faster than Jake's did. She focused on the reasoning behind that for a moment before she heard the Hufflepuff talking once more.

The ideas brought a smile to the witch's lips, a small one, but a genuine smile. "Sledding is so much fun! And a snowman too! I can show you how to change the colours of them, if you like? My old Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher showed me the spell, so I could make things pink." Victoria replied to the first idea.

The tenderness of Allegra as she moved Victoria's hair from her face made the witch smile a little bit more as she smiled. It was so nice to have someone here who would look after her like this.

"I like the other two so very much too. I would love to visit." Victoria added, letting out a small yawn as she closed her eyes. She was incredibly tired, but the nightmares always came when she didn't need them to.

"it's going to be okay."

"I know." Victoria replied softly, already settling in to going back to sleep. She was calm at least now, and she had such nice things to focus on. But the biggest one came from her mouth only a few moments later. "I have the best friend I could ask for right here to look after me." She managed sleepily, falling silent once more, a small smile on her lips as she waited for sleep to come back to take her.

Hopefully in a much more happy manner than it had before.

Listening to Victoria speak more happily brought a smile to Allegra's face as she closed her eyes and listened to the girl speak. It seemed the young witch had succeeded in her aim of cheering her friend up well enough to distract her from the horrific night terrors she suffered from. And the confirmation of a visit brought a content and sleepy 'awesome' from her lips.

Victoria also began to come back to slumbers temptation and her words became softer, lulling Allegra back to sleep sooner than expected. But she did catch the sentence that warmed her heart considerably.
"I have the best friend I could ask for right here to look after me."

Nodding faintly she felt herself falling back into her dreams, comfortably cuddled against the other hufflepuff, Lupa already fast asleep. One arm around the girl as if to keep the nightmares from even reaching her.
