Creating Your Character

So now that you’ve read the rules and all associated handbooks, you are ready to make a character here at HAF! To help you in your quest, we’ve prepared a checklist for you. Be sure to cross everything off the list to ensure your character is ready for sorting.

First and most importantly, you’ll need to fill out a character profile using the following template and post it as a separate topic here.

NOTE: Due to an unbalanced amount of upper and lower class students at both Hogwarts and Salem, HAF will only be accepting students from 1st years to 4th years for the near future.

Blood purity: (take note that purebloods are monitored closely on the site. If you wish to make your character a pureblood, please read this thread and follow accordingly. In the meantime, you may leave your blood status blank until your family history has been approved and added to the pureblood index)

Sexual alignment:

Wand Type:

Personality: Short paragraph on your character's personality. At least 3 sentences.

Background: Three short paragraphs on your character's general history.

Family Background: One or two short paragraphs.

The next thing you’d need to get one with are claims.

Please claim a an FC, a name, a job/position if your character has any as well as any powers your character might have. Do note that we only allow a total of two powers per character and only one creature per handler. So if you are a new player and your character is a werewolf, you will not be able to have any other character as a creature on HAF. Similarly, if your character already has two powers (say he is a telepath as well as a parselmouth) then he will not be allowed a third power. Choose carefully.

Once you’ve done your claims, it’s time to get sorted if your character is a student.

To do this, please fill out a sorting quiz as a reply to the sorting thread itself. You are free to try and shoot for a House of your liking but we cannot promise you will get into that House. We can however, ask you to keep your fingers crossed. Wink

Note: Please refrain from direct use of characters from other fandoms. I.e.: naming your character Bilbo Baggins, claiming Martin Freeman as the Face Claim, and creating a back story that is similar to his. This does not allow you the creativity that this site strives for. There are other fandoms for these characters to live in. If you have any questions, please reach out to an admin.
