General appearance: Has dark brown hair, that is kind of the modern messy bob cut look, with the layering and rough cut edges to keep it from having the edge line look, kind of a wavy look to it overall but still neat. Often times will come the bangs to one side to give it an angled look. Slightly longer on the back and sides by the ears.  Not perfect, he usually musses it up artfully. 5'6" or 170.5 cm tall, (6'1" or 186 cm when fully grown). Leanly muscular. Has a bit more of a prominent brow then some, as well as a long, narrow jawline with a rounded chin. His cheek is somewhat prominent but slightly less so than the brow. Has slightly slanted eyes, that are a light to medium blue that are slightly darker around the iris. Eyebrows are longer and thinner than most. His lips are about the average size, and he has a more noticeable indentation between his nostril and lip then some, the cliff thing.
Special Features: Has a scar on his left ankle from when he broke it falling out of a tree as a kid. Not extremely noticeable because it was patched up and happened when he was six. Also has a slight discoloration around one his right elbow that he skinned really well from a fall once and had a floor burn. Slightly paler skin than his other elbow.

Personality: Humphrey is a very calm and laid back guy most of the time, but don't mistake that for lack of motivation because he always pushes himself to do his best and can be a bit competitive when it comes to sports and the like. Is a very gentle, caring person who is always considerate and polite to those around him. Has a good sense of humor that is a balance between sarcastic and random jokes. Loves to tease people just for fun, though isn't the type to go overboard with it and always stops if they ask. Is very helpful and his dream is to become a Healer or something similar so he can help as many people as possible. Wants to go into whatever the wizarding world's equivalent is to counselors, but specializing in people who have had traumatic experiences. Can be shy and quiet, but is social enough to be able to make friends and gets along with people well. Once he gets accustomed to a new group of friends or a specific person he opens up a bit more.
 
Background:
 
Grew up as a muggle, lived in Xenia, Ohio, thirty minutes outside of Dayton, before his parents were killed. It was a freak airplane accident, they had been asked to go to a convention to share some of the research his mom and dad had been working on for a long time. With his dad being on the pharmaceutical side of things, and his mother being expert in the biological and neurological side of things, they had worked together to come up with a new pill designed to treat people with attention deficit disorder. The conference was in Atlanta, and was the first big unveiling of what their medication would do, it was called Furoxil, though of course the medical term for the actual ingredients was much longer. On the way back a random thunderstorm that was supposed to have just been rain hit, and lightning struck the left wing. Some of the passengers survived, but not many and his parents were not one of the lucky few.
 
Humphrey only remembers about three and a half years with his parents, and he had to go through counseling to learn to cope with it. The counseling lasted for a full year, until he was deemed able to cope with it on his own. It still hurts him deeply, and occasionally he will have a nightmare imagining the plane crash they were killed in.
 
After his parents' deaths, when he was still only seven years old, he moved in with his aunt and uncle. His Aunt Carrie was a school teacher, and had been teaching first grade for seven before he moved in with them. His Uncle James, who goes by Jim, is a lawyer. Jim is busy nearly all the time, whether at work or at home with all the papers he has to sort through. Carrie sees Humphrey a bit more and they are close, but she also is busy with the schoolwork and then taking care of the dinners. Often times Humphrey works as her cooking assistant and he always helps set the table for her.
 
Humphrey is an excellent musician, who began learning to play the piano when he was six years old. Those are some of the best memories he has with his mother. She taught him to sing as well, and they played duets together when he became competent enough to play songs. Since moving to Garden City, South Carolina, that is the town his aunt and uncle live in that is near the coast and myrtle beach, he has picked up acoustic guitar as well. Works on lots of covers, and is trying to learn how to write his own music.
 
When he accidentally expanded a pencil to three times its usual size, he learned about the wizarding world. His aunt and uncle were extremely understanding, though it was confusing for them at first. Carrie in particular took the time to help him find out some basic stuff about the wizarding world in general and helped him become excited about the idea of magic instead of nervous that he might accidentally do something bad before he learned to control it. One of the things she used to distract him was to get him a Husky, and before he knew it him and Balto were best pals and he'd gotten used to the idea of being a wizard without even realizing it.
 
Wants to kind of merge some muggle psychology with what wizards do for counseling, combining both and making the most effective treatment means possible. It had always been a dream of his to become a doctor of some sort, and when he learned of the wizarding world it became his dream to do his best to combine some of the muggle with some of the magical treatments. The psychology and the emotional side of healing had always interested him most, and he has already studied some psychology books that his mom helped explain to him. He is learning more about what wizards do for people with mental illness or just general traumatic experiences that have caused emotional damage. Is looking forward to when he graduates from Hogwarts and can start making a difference for the better in the world.
 
Humphrey's first year of school started out so well, he had made a great friend in Victoria Newbury. Then some bad things happened, first he got caught up in school and didn't hang out with her as much as he should have. Shortly after, she died in what was either an accident or suicide, he'll never know. The news hit him hard, he had more than a little crush on her and she was his best friend. After that happened, he had two months of misery before his aunt was diagnosed with leukemic cancer. He came home, and did his best to take care of her before she passed away at the end of april. She was his rock, Carrie had drawn him out after his parent's deaths. Now, he had nobody left who was important to him, his uncle and him had never been close. Humphrey was tightening his belt, sticking his chin up, and trying to toughen up and carry on even though it hurt like hell.

Family Background:
 
His dad's side of the family lives in Ohio for the most part. He had two brothers but they live overseas in Germany. They are proud of their German heritage and moved back over to where they are originally from. Humphrey's great, great grandfather moved over and bought a piece of land that his family farmed in the area of Piqua, Ohio. By the time Humphrey's father was born they had spread out and some relatives ran the farm whereas others had moved back to Germany, and some lived in different parts of Ohio.
 
On his mother's side he gets his British blood, her family moved to America in the middle of the 19th century, and most of her family stayed on the east coast or in nearby states. She had the sweet southern accent, and he has the occasional southern word or phrase he uses even though he was taught the standard American English accent. Carrie was just a few years younger than his mom and immediately offered to take him in after the accident. Her and Patricia were still close even though she had moved to Ohio, and Humphrey had visited her twice before and kind of knew her.
