As December drew in, Jake was quite surprised at how quickly this year was going. Though, he realised that was probably to do with the fact he was enjoying everything about his life at present. After tidying away the paperwork on his desk from that morning, Jake readied himself for the lesson.

The room was already empty of all chairs and desks for this lesson, and the board held the lesson's title in Jake's usually untidy handwriting. All that remained now was to see who would be coming to the lesson.

"Please don't let me be late..", she muttered to herself repeatedly, ignoring how loud her footfalls sounded as she ran through the halls to get to her defense class, bag clutched tightly to her chest.

Even now, after two years of attending the place and now going on her third, Hogwarts was still unfamiliar. She couldn't, for some reason, navigate her way through the halls like the older students.

"Maybe it gets easier with time..", she mused to herself, looking down at her feet as she walked, not mindful of her surroundings. "Yeah, maybe tha- Ouch!"

She jumped back at the sudden collision, one hand going to rub at her head, wincing as she remembered how loud the thump had sounded. "Stupid..", she chastised, shaking her head before grasping the handle of the door, opening it whilst adopting a bashful expression at seeing the Professor already, there.

"S-sorry, Professor. I-err.. I got lost", she said, lowering her voice at the last few words as a blush settled on her cheeks. Really, she shoulr be a pro at navigating through Hogwarts but - nooo. Well, at least she got to Defense. Even if it did mean one smarting headache.

Violet was pleased to have DADA. She found it to be a tolerable subject, liking the fact that she got to use spells on others with no risk of trouble. That would have to be her favourite part. She walked into the classroom, dropping her bag onto the floor and leaning casually against the back wall of the room, giving Jake a slight nod of acknowledgement, but nothing more as she waited for the class to begin, recalling the things she had read about the Verdimillious Charm.

Natasha happily made her way to DADA, it was certainly one of her favourite classes. Of course, for her it was hard to choose a complete favourite, but DADA was pretty close. She walked into the classroom, "Jake," she acknowledged quietly as she entered, moving to stand at the front of the room, waiting for class to start.

Kedzie walked into DADA and saw that Jake stood there tall as he always did. Jake was a good Professor and she was always happy to learn from him as she was for every single Professor that was in the school. The young girl stood with her bag by her feet waiting for Jake to begin his lesson. When she saw the lesson on the board she couldn't contain her excitement but managed. "Hi Jake" she greeted as she did every Professor.

"S-sorry, Professor. I-err.. I got lost"

"No need to apologise, you're not late!" Jake replied warmly to the witch, offering a small smile to try and calm her nerves. "And you can call me Jake, I'm not nearly old enough to be called professor yet!" He added lightly, though in truth, the term just made him sound unapproachable, and he didn't like that idea.

Three more students entered the room soon after and Jake acknowledged each of them with a smile. A few more minutes passed, and Jake decided to get on with the lesson. "Right, good morning ladies, welcome to Defence Against the Dark Arts. We're going to be looking at the Verdimillious Charm today. So, first things first, who knows anything about the spell, just one fact each? What it does, the incantation, wand movement, anything you know, throw it my way." Jake told them, looking to each of them to see what they would come up with.

Ely offered the Professor a grateful smile as he said she wasn't, by any means, late. This was a first for her! Not getting lost, no. She got lost all th time. But, getting lost [i]and[/] making it to class? Definitely a first.

She quickly moved to sit beside a fellow classmate, offering whomever it was a happy smile before directing her attention back to the Pro- Jake. She was so not getting used to that. Professor Jake, perhaps? Great. A compromise!

Happy with her strange idea, she raised her hand to answer the Professor's question before proceeding to stand, "Well Professor Jake, the Verdimillious charm can have several effects depending on it's use. But, it is generally used to reveal objects hidden by the Dark Arts." Smiling jovially at the professor, she started drumming a small beat on the table with her nails, "To be honest, it's quite a handy spell by the sound of it. Well, for the aurors and the ministry, of course. Not the holders."

Finally, the lesson began. Violet was always somewhat impatient when it came to waiting. Jake posed the question to the class, and she waited while a Ravenclaw decided to rattle on for a bit about the charm being useful and whatnot. Once finished, Violet added "To cast the spell, the wand movement is a simple forward slash," she said dryly. Of course she knew more, but Jake had said one piece of information each.

Natasha waited quietly as Jake began the class, and Elysia spoke answering the question, and the Violet adding to the answer. She thought back to her readings on the Charm, and decided to raise her hand to draw attention to herself, politely, as she answered "Also, when it's cast, it has a distinguishable green light," she said, trying to speak loud enough for her peers and Jake to hear. She was naturally very softly spoken.

As Elysia offered an answer, Jake smiled at the Ravenclaw, nodding his head to show that she was, in fact, correct in her answer. Followed by two more answers that were simple, but also, correct. "Well done ladies, five points to each of you!" Jake told them with a warm smile.

"Now, this spell can also be used against opponents, more of a forceful spell than doing specific things, so knocking people out your way. However, that will not be what we're using the spell for today. No, instead we will be finding objects with Dark Magic in the classroom." Jake explained, taking out his wand and undoing the charm that was hiding the far end of the room. It was something of a junk shop at that end of the room.

"Each of you is to try and find the Dark Magic item. Please don't touch them, as they are, of course, dangerous. But just point them out to me when you can find them. You'll see it's quite handy for people who work in the Ministry. Or those who wish to keep themselves safe. Tread carefully, but of course, have fun!"

Kedzie listened to Jake as he told them to go find a dark magic item in the pile of dark magic items that Jake had revealed. Kedzie would never ever in her wildest dream ever touch one of those, that was just crazy and asking for trouble. The Ravenclaw looked with her brown eyes trying to find something that would be right when sometime caught her eye. "Is that one?" She asked as she pointed to a dark pendent.

"Is that one?"

Jake looked to the witch and shook his head. "You have to use the spell." He replied, checking the clock on the wall and letting out a sigh. "Okay, so we haven't managed to get as far as I would have liked to today, but that is all we have time for I'm afraid." Jake told the class, hiding the back room from view again.

"You have no homework seeing as it's the holidays, so have a good break, stay safe, and I'll see you all in the new year." Jake told them, motioning them to the door.
