| Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry History:Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, is the oldest wizarding school. It was founded in 990 A.D. by two powerful wizards and two ingenius witches hoping for create a safe area for educating youth in magic. The four were: Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin. Each wizard and witch brought forth four different aspects of personality that they wanted to bring out in new students. For Godric Gryffindor, he wanted students that valued, bravery and chivalry. His house Gryffindor would choose the gallant colors of gold and red, with the lion as the symbol of their house. They were connected to the affinity of fire, and every student from it's founding would carry the colors with pride. Notably, Gryffindor house would later contribute many members to Dumbledore's Army (including Dumbledore himself) and the Order of the Phoenix. Famous Gryffindors are Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter, Hermione, Granger, and Ron Weasley. They are known to have the biggest rivalry with Slytherin. For Helga Hufflepuff, she found hard work, patience, and tolerance as important qualities in a person. She found the house Hufflepuff, choosing the colors yellow and black for the house along with the badger representing, the affinity of earth. Students belonging to this house are known to be hard-working, friendly, loyal, honest and rather impartial. It may be that due to their values, Hufflepuffs are not as competitive as the other houses, or are more modest about their accomplishments. Some of their famous members were Nymphadora Tonks, and also the winner of the 1994 Triwizard Tournament, Cedric Diggory. For Rowena Ravenclaw, intellect was at the core of learning. Members of this house are characterised by their wit, learning, and wisdom. Thus, many Ravenclaws tend to be academically motivated and talented students. Its house colors are blue and bronze, and its symbol is the eagle, meaning the affinity of air. While not having a strong rivalry with other houses at all times, Ravenclaws are all competitive when it comes to academics, so much so that there's more "house" and it's all for the individual. Often time pride gets in the way of it's students, but out of this house, many strong and powerful wizards have started in Ravenclaw. One of the famous Ravenclaw graduates is Luna Lovegood. For Salazar Slytherin, tradition was key. For him Slytherin would be a traditional home to students who exhibit such traits as cunning, resourcefulness, and ambition. The house is composed mostly of pure-blood students, due to its founder's mistrust of Muggle-born witches and wizards. Slytherin house has a negative reputation, with many claiming that it is the source of most Dark Wizards in Britain. Its emblematic animal is the snake and its colors are green and silver, with a connection to water. Slytherins tend to be ambitious, shrewd, cunning, strong leaders, and achievement-oriented. They also have highly developed senses of self-preservation. Their biggest rivalry is with Gryffindors, originated since the time of the founders themselves. Some notable wizards are Tom Riddle (Lord Voldemort), and former Headmaster and Potions professor Severus Snape. But what began as a joint plan, soon began to grow a rift as the issue of blood purity forced a falling out. The idea of blood purity came from Salazar Slytherin who believed that only true witches and wizards (pure bloods) should be the only ones admitted. The other three disagreed and he removed himself from the involvement of the school, only leaving behind one of the founding houses.Throughout it's history, it has sorted students into the four houses by the Sorting hat. It chooses a students house where they will become a success. While it might not seem that some students belong, the sorting hat is always right and chooses a house what gives them a chance of success. And from it's dark moments to it's high, Hogwarts has graduated people that are ambitious, strong, and successful. They make history and overall, throughout it's years it still remains a staple in education in Western Europe. Please fill in the following to apply to Hogwarts:NOTE: Due to an unbalanced amount of upper and lower class students at both Hogwarts and Salem, HAF will only be accepting students from 1st years to 4th years for the near future. - Code:
