Some things can't be avoided forever (Josh) Empty
PostSubject: Some things can't be avoided forever (Josh)   Some things can't be avoided forever (Josh) EmptyMon Sep 08, 2014 10:01 am

Of all the things Louise missed she'd have to say Quidditch was damn near the top of her list. Under Miss Sheridan, Thana and Josh. She sat huddled in a ball on an empty seat, but having said that almost all of the seats were empty at the moment, not many would want to be out in this cold this early in the morning. She'd been practising her animagus transformation all summer, once she'd kicked herself for moping around for too long. She'd recently managed to change her shape and was getting used to holding it for hours at a time. The fur made the cold a bit more bearable and being so small she wasn't easy to find, she did have to avoid many feet while roaming inside though so out here she didn't have to be too careful with being stepped on. She watched with large green eyes up at the fliers, her silky black fur rippling with the breeze. On her chest and belly was a fluffy grey strip of fur, making her stand out a little from the other resident cats. She was surprised to note that none of them bothered her, like they knew she wasn't really a cat. Which was ok with her.

She was watching one flier in particular, not paying much attention to the others. She really missed the feeling of flying, she'd thought about asking to join back up but remembered she'd be at a severe disadvantage. Perhaps she could ask if having a safety harness would be against the rules? just so she didn't have to worry about falling if she was reaching out for the snitch. She lowered her head onto the bench and sighed deeply. Her companion, Professor was sitting beside her preening his tail. He looked at her and tried to cheer her up by pressing his little paws onto her head like a masseuse, which got her to smile, a little.

With school back in to full flow, the Quidditch teams were allowed to start training a month in to the school year. In true form, Josh had his team out at the earliest opportunity, training them hard and giving those who hadn't been doing anything a real grilling. Physically. It hadn't gone amiss that Louise hadn't turned up for the practice.

As the hour and a half slot moved on, Josh was almost certain he was being watched. Paranoia was not something that settled well on him, and as he scanned the stands for the eyes that were watching him, he noted a feline watching him. Usually, he would have dismissed it, but the fact there was a squirrel sat with the cat, so calm in the face of an animal that would likely happily hunt it, Josh knew there was something off.

It was even further off when he noted that the cat had merely three legs.

Dismissing the team as the hour went on, Josh made his way back to the stands where he'd seen the cat and sat down beside it. Looking out on to the pitch, Josh waited for the transformation, but when it didn't come for a few moments, Josh let out a soft sigh. "Come on, Grey, your animagus is blindingly obvious at best, and then your stupid rat follows you. I know it's you." Josh told the witch in a low growl, he didn't like being played with, especially in this nature. Though, he would have to admit that the whole animagus thing was quite cool, even if highly amusing at her form. Something more regal would have been better, but a cat was passable.

Had Louise been paying attention she would have ran for it the minute Josh landed, but her mind was elsewhere so when he said her name she jumped up and faced him with wide eyes. Professor had a hold of her tail and holding her still so she couldn't run for it without pulling him along with her.

Her ears drooped somewhat and she sat down again, turning her head away. What was she going to say to him? She couldn't think of a damn word, despite playing out conversations in her head since she got the letter from his parents. Now all of them fled from her mind like dust in the wind. When he called Professor a rat she puffed out her chest and glared at him, hobbling around so she faced the pitch, knowing better than to fully turn her back on him. Professor seemed indifferent and scampered off behind the stands, bloody traitor.

The notion of the witch trying to ignore him amused Josh, he was never ignored, by anyone, but it was quite clear Louise was going to try. The small glare, which Josh assumed to be due to him calling her pet a rat made the usual smirk touch his lips.

But even then, Louise didn't turn back, which only made Josh shake his head at her.

"Grey, for Merlin's sake, turn back so that we can talk." Josh told her crossly, he really did dislike being made to sit talking to a cat. "If you're not willing to come and see the team, at least have the decency to tell your captain you're not coming back to training, will you?" He insisted, raising an eyebrow as he once again waited for her to change back. It wasn't like Louise to stay quiet, Merlin knew she could talk the back legs off a hippogriff.

A little flick of her tail showed she was listening and considering the request to change back. There wasn't much point in running now so she may as well change even if so he wouldn't look like an idiot talking to her cat form. It took a few minutes to force the shift, and almost loosing her balance on the bench, ending sitting on her knees on the bench, but stayed that way, not really trusting she'd catch herself if she fell forward, besides it was warmer where she'd been sitting. She was bundled under several layers, the left sleeve tucked into a buttoned up pocket and wearing a glove on her right hand. Her scarf covered most of the lower half of her face.

She didn't look at him, at least not for long and not at his eyes at least. "I didn't think I'd be welcome back on the team." she muttered, just loud enough for it to not be considered mumbling but quiet enough so that Josh would have to be paying attention to hear her.

It was a few moments before the cat turned back in to Louise. The smirk on his lips only grew at the notion of control he held over the witch. He didn't pay much attention to the fact that since the last time they'd seen each other things had changed massively in the witch's physical appearance, it was well known in many and more cases and Josh wasn't one to state the obvious.

"I didn't think I'd be welcome back on the team."

When the witch finally replied, Josh let out a snort at her reply, shaking his head slightly. "Is it always about you, Grey? Nothing has changed, you've missed a training session. You owe me and hour and a half of your time." Josh told her dryly. The Head Boy wasn't even joking either, he didn't take slacking on his team, and Louise Grey was absolutely no exception.

But the biggest thing that annoyed Josh was the fact she wouldn't look at him. "You're mad at me, Grey." The boy stated, because he already knew that much. The reason however, was unfounded, but he decided to hear what she had to say first.

The girl almost bristled at that comment. Almost. She barely let out a puff of breath before he'd told her that she owed him time. Of bloody course. The git. She didn't bother to dignify that last statement with a reply either so focused on the second, after a roll of her eyes naturally. "You must be mad or joking and I'm not sure which I prefer to be honest. I'll join back but I make no promises. When's a convenient time for me to make up the practice?" There, nothing wrong with that was there? Though she expected he'd find something to reprimand her for but she really couldn't care much less.

Louise was neither being helpful or in any manner like herself. Though Josh understood to an extent. But understanding and having patience with the lack of conversation were two very different things in the Murray world. "You'll make it up before and after next training." Josh told the witch sternly, shaking his head momentarily as he sat back in his chair.

It seemed no matter how much of his time he was willingly giving the younger witch, she was completely wasn't going to take him up on the most generous offer.

Using the fact the witch wasn't looking at him, Josh reached out and touched her hair more gently than he'd ever really been, playing with it momentarily before moving away once more. Perhaps now had been two soon, Josh didn't know how the witch worked. Getting to his feet, the Head Boy started to move off. "See you around, Grey." He called back to her, making no rush of descending the steps in case she wished to call him back.

"You'll make it up before and after next training."

Louise just nodded, she wasn't about to pass up another chance if she could take it. She wasn't sure if she had anything to say, usually she had anything and everything to say to Josh, even if he did get annoyed by it.

She jumped a bit when she felt something on her hair and looked to the side as Josh stood up to leave. Already? She went to call him back but words failed her again, she remembered the letter and closed her mouth.  There wasn't much she could do at this point so she sighed and picked up her bag from under the seat, called Professor back so he could climb onto her shoulder and followed Josh down the steps, but made for the castle rather than the changing rooms. This was going to be a very long year.
