A day in the shade (Joe) Empty

Vanessa sat under one of the many trees in the courtyard, her nose in a book, as usual. She had finished her homework early and the sunshine streaming in her window was just too good to pass up. So, grabbing a blanket to sit on, she headed down to the courtyard to soak up as much of it as she could.

Taking a small break from reading, the young Gryffindor rested her head against the tree trunk and watched as the white fluffy clouds passed by lazily. With a happy sigh, she simply reveled in the peace around her.

She felt the sun beating down on her face and skin and smiled lazily. The warm feeling spread over her and she felt like nothing could ruin her happy mood. She thought about how much she had missed just sitting outside and enjoying nature. She hadn’t done that in a long time.

A day in the shade (Joe) Empty

Shaken wasn't exactly the word. After the ball, which Joe had thought would be a nice, calm evening that he could spend with Brooke, he found himself a little more jumpy than usual, and that was phrasing it lightly. The boy had to get out at some point though, and he knew that. Months worth of rehabilitation wasn't going to be lost on him, that much, he was determined of.

The Hufflepuff left his dormitory in jeans and a light t-shirt, hands deep in his pockets as he walked towards his sanctuary. He was sort of hoping Morgan might be there today, he wanted to talk to her about the attack, but if she wasn't then it wouldn't matter. He was more than happy to be alone at this time.

A familiar face met his eyes as he approached the water, and for a moment, he had to wonder where he had seen her before. At the end of his last year, she had been in the hospital wing when he'd damaged his wrist, and she'd given him a cookie. She was a sweet girl, he had decided. "Hey," he said softly as he approached her. "Mind if I join you?"

"Hello, Joe. Sure, I dont mind. Take a seat." She smiled and lied back on the ground. She stared up at the sky and looked up at the clouds. She remembered when Joe was in the hospital and she had brought the patients cookies. She had met him briefly and remembered he had hurt his wrist, "How is your wrist feeling? Any better?" She wondered if he remembered her name or not, "Vanessa. In case you forgot." She smiled and looked up at him.

Smiling his thanks down at the young Gryffindor, Joe sat at her side, looking out at the water as he slung both arms loosely around his right leg. He considered her question with a soft laugh, turning to face the witch with a warm smile to replicate the aura that radiated off the Gryffindor. "It's a lot better, actually. Turns out that it wasn't actually broken, the impact just jarred it a little. Nothing too serious.

"Vanessa. In case you forgot."

"I remember," he assured her. "You were one of the nicest people I met last year, actually. How have you been?" Small talk had never been Joe's forté, far from it actually, but he wasn't afraid to at least give it a try.

"Im glad you were not seriously injured. And that you are feeling better." She smiled and remembered the small conversation she had had with the boy the previous year. He was so sweet. She had taken an instant liking to him. And she hoped they could be friends."Why thank you, Joe." She smiled when he said she was kind. She tried to be after seeing how her sister turned out. "I have been good. Were you at the dance by any chance?" She wondered if he had been attacked.
