Lesson 3 (4th-5th Years) Empty
PostSubject: Lesson 3 (4th-5th Years)   Lesson 3 (4th-5th Years) EmptyTue Jul 08, 2014 6:17 am

Kira was standing on the patch of grass, smiling with her face turned to the rare sun ray. Nature was beginning to wake up and it was beautiful to watch. If Kira hadn't been so busy with planning lessons and taking care of grounds for two schools, she'd spend her days just watching plants grow and enjoying the sunshine. It was getting warmer too, at Salem more significantly than Hogwarts, but it was pleasant everywhere.

The only damper on spring was the kidnapping of students and when Kira wasn't worrying about the creatures on the grounds, she was worrying about Diem and when she was at Salem, she kept checking up on her daughter. She felt incredibly sorry for the kids that were kidnapped and for their parents and friends and all in all, it was a horrible thing.

As it so happened, Kira was standing next to huge slabs of meat, hung on tree branches and the smell was making it a bit hard to enjoy the sunshine. Eying the meat hungrily were three beautiful Hippogriffs and the Professor shook her head at them; they were fed just a few minutes before. The meat was there to keep them busy instead of attacking students.

Victoria skipped down to the clearing for Care of Magical Creatures, a warm smile on her face as the sun lit up her skin in the most vibrant of manners. The summer was Victoria's favourite time of year, she'd been fortunate to get skin that tanned a little, as opposed to Jake's light skin that burnt in a second. Though, she never went outside without applying sun cream, it was important, of course!

Moving in to the clearing, Victoria took in the large creatures that Professor Reid had brought. The Wormwood's eyes went wide at the view, before she looked to the professor with a wide grin. "This. Is. Amazing!" The witch told the professor, clearly incredibly happy with the selection of topic for the lesson. "I mean... good morning, professor!" Victoria amended, her eyes staying on the creatures in awe.

Annie got a little lost while walking to this class, she wasn't very familiar with this subject because of the fact that she never really attended the class and because she wasn't familiar with most Creatures. The Nightshade finally found her way and arrived at the class, she instantly saw Victoria there. "Hey Professor and Victoria" she greeted.

Aphrodite loved animals and Creatures were sort of like animals so she was all for coming to this class. The Veela got to the class and instantly brightened up when she saw everything, the Belladonna lived for classes and she always will. Aphrodite waved to everyone. "Hello all" she greeted. The Belladonna looked at the lesson that would be taught and was pretty amazed at what she saw.

Kira greeted everyone as they arrived, chuckling at Victoria's comment about the lesson. It was good to see her students so excited, though she was a bit worried that none of them seemed at least a bit apprehensive. She would have to emphasize that Hippogriffs were dangerous later in the lesson, just to make sure nobody would get hurt.

"Morning, everyone. Today we'll be talking about Hippogriffs. Can anyone tell me something about them? One answer per student, please."

When Annie joined the group, Victoria gave the witch a warm smile and a soft hello. The Nightshade was nice, but Victoria was always fiercely observant when it came to class, so she didn't indulge in chatter than might make her miss something the professor said.

"Morning, everyone. Today we'll be talking about Hippogriffs. Can anyone tell me something about them? One answer per student, please."

Raising her hand at the question, Victoria spoke once called upon. "The Hippogriff is one of the proudest magical creatures known to man. They expect respect from the moment you meet them. It's said you should always bow to a Hippogriff before movnig closer, allowing them to accept or deny you. If they deny you, though, you should be ready to run. Fast." Victoria explained, her eyes drifting back to the Hippogriff.

Aphrodite listens to Victoria as she answers, she seems to know a lot about the creatures they always learn there. When the Wormwood finished speaking Aphrodite began to speak. "A Hippogriff has a head like an eagle and a body like a horse" she answered. The Belladonna wasn't sure how that was possible but then again its called a magical creature for a reason.

Sierra walked into class late just as APhroite answered a question about a Hippogriff. She smiled at the girl before taking a seat next to her and meekly smiling at their professor. She looked around for Apollo but saw no sign of him. Sierra decided to raise her hand and answer a question, "Hippogriffs are very proud creatures. You do not want to insult one." She had read up on hippogriffs to prepare for her lesson. Part of being a Belladonna. She felt slightly embarrased yet proud at the answer she gave. She knew it was right. She smiled at her professor befroe lookign down and blushing lightly.

Kira listened to the young Wormwood and smiled at her proudly. She seemed to know a lot about everything they studied and the Professor was very enthused. She nodded and smiled at the other two students who answered as well.

"Correct, ladies, five points to each of you.

'Indeed, Hippogriffs are incredibly proud creatures. When you approach them, you have got to maintain eye contact and bow, as that shows you respect them and won't hurt them. If they bow back, you have the permission to go closer. If they don't, slowly back away and then run." Kira explained, hoping that everybody understood just how important this was. "Under no circumstances are you to insult a Hippogriff or approach them without the proper procedure." she added, for emphasis.

"They eat small insects, birds and small mammals. When I feed the, I usually bring them meat, as they can find insects by themselves and we're trying to lessen the kill in the Forrest." she told her students and then threw pieces of meat towards each of the glorious beasts.

Then she turned back to the small group and smiled. "If you'd like, you can each try to approach a Hippogriff. Again, they will maul you to d- they will injure you if you insult them, so please be careful. I know how to calm them down if anything happens, but I'd rather everyone be safe. If any of you don't want to do this, you don't have to."

Victoria listened to the explanation of what they were doing with the enthusiasm that always happened around the Wormwood when she was in class. There were a few new things that Victoria eagerly absorbed, but most of it the witch could remember from the books that she'd read up on before.

When they were told they could move towards the beasts, Victoria did exactly that, calmly and slowly as not to scare the animal. When the witch came close enough to the animal before her, Victoria flourished the bow as they had been instructed and waited quite patiently for the animal to react to her.

It took a while, Victoria could see the beast sniffing at the air and trying to decide if she was friend or foe. The witch didn't even know what the beast was looking for as it sniffed, but slowly, so agonisingly slowly, the animal bowed it's head. A soft clicking sound, which Victoria imagined was the creatures tongue sounded, making it more obvious that she was to come closer and Victoria obliged moving forwards and reaching up a hand to touch the birds beak.

Perhaps Victoria moved too fast, for the creature snapped at Victoria's hand, catching the back of her palm and drawing blood. But Victoria only grimaced slightly, not deterred from her target. "I'm not going to hurt you..." Victoria cooed the bird softly, hoping it would understand.

Kira watched as Victoria moved towards one od the Hippogriffs and she hwld her breath when the girl bowed. Excruciatingly long seconds went by and then finally, the bird bowed its head as well. Kira breathed out in relief and smiled encouragingly at the young Wormwood. No mauling today, good. That was good.

Time went by and no one else seemed to be interedted in going closer to the Hippogriffs, so Kira decided it was enough for one day.

"That's all we have time for today, thank you all for coming. Good luck with your exams and have a nice summer!"
