Shelter (Teagan) : Rated PG-13 Empty
PostSubject: Shelter (Teagan) : Rated PG-13   Shelter (Teagan) : Rated PG-13 EmptyTue Aug 05, 2014 3:59 am

Home. He took a deep breath as he closed the door behind him. It felt like nothing had changed in the months that he had been away at school. Throwing his suitcase to the side, he walked towards the fridge to take a water bottle. Apparently since pitchers weren't as effective, as Teagan had argued for. He drank it and leaned against the counter tiredly. His parents always took it out of him. And moving Tess to St. Mungos was enough for him to want to take two aspirins and just go to bed.

He looked around wondering if Teagan had returned from her examinations, but from the silence he figured the Healer had kept her longer than expected. The battle had taken a lot out of them, emotionally, and in her sake physically. For him, it had taken a few spells and a bandage around his ribs to let him go. But he had insisted that for Teagan's sake her examination would be thorough.

Finishing his bottle he walked towards the bedroom to undress. Unbuttoning his shirt, he threw it to the side as he did with his pants, letting himself crawl into the covers and try to sleep. He knew Teagan would wake him up, but for the moment, he needed to take a nap.

Shelter (Teagan) : Rated PG-13 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Shelter (Teagan) : Rated PG-13   Shelter (Teagan) : Rated PG-13 EmptyWed Aug 06, 2014 10:41 pm

A distinct pop sounded in the alley behind a bakery. Neither Teagan nor Mycroft got to spend much time in the small village they lived near, but she was rather fond of this shop. The owner was a sweet old lady that would often sneak Teagan a few extra biscuits when she happened to stop by. It was a nice place to settle down, if the witch allowed herself to think about it. But such things were far from her mind now.

Moving slowly through the streets, she approached their flat. Most weeks during school, Teagan had been able to return at least for a few hours here or there. Taking the year off of teaching, solely focusing on running Salem, had been good for her. Mentally and Physically. Even though she'd gained the position as a result of an attack, the one at the Quidditch match had done more damage than she'd understood in the beginning.

Thinking back on the last few years, though, the witch wondered what lay ahead for her and Mycroft. As she entered the flat, and moved to take of her summer jacket and set down her messenger bag, she forced those thoughts to the back of her mind.

It's not important now. It was summer. Classes were over and the grades and such were all taken care of. And as much as bad as the end result of the battle had been, their gains outweighed their losses.

Still, the witch couldn't help the tinge of pain that shot down her arm as she had set down her back on the sofa. The healers hadn't pinpointed the specific poison that had laced the dagger she'd been cut with. They'd given her a generic antidote, and bandaged her up, but it wasn't healing like a normal wound should.

Looking around, she caught the telltale signs of Mycroft being home. A soft glow came from their bedroom, and she smiled warmly. She walked softly down the hall, not sure what she'd find.

She was grateful for the quite, then, as she found her fiancee sprawled out on their bed. He wasn't an overly large man, in comparison to some, but Mycroft had a way of taking up space that sometimes left Teagan breathless. She took a few moments, in the quiet of the home they shared, to wonder about her own luck.

Deciding that he had the right idea, she stripped off her outerwear, content to slip under the covers in her under things. Laying on her side, she simply watched him. He didn't snore, really, but she could hear his breaths moving in and out, his head tucked into his pillow as he lay on his stomach. Reaching out a hand, she tenderly traced the side of his face, happy to be home.

Shelter (Teagan) : Rated PG-13 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Shelter (Teagan) : Rated PG-13   Shelter (Teagan) : Rated PG-13 EmptyWed Aug 06, 2014 11:06 pm

Sleep was a rarity for Mycroft in general, but it had never affected him as it had this whole week he was gone. With four hours of sleep he was usually ready to run off, but never had he taken notice of how it did affect him when he was emotionally unstable. With the attack, sleep had been something of a treat rather than a necessity, and it had only become worse when the repercussions came barreling towards him. Tess’ injury and being her emergency contact had definitely brought reality to his world. The stress, the nights wondering if she was going to be alright, was enough for emotionally drain him. Every night not being able to sleep, constantly asking about her condition then asking how Teagan was back home had tired him out more than he ever cared to admit.

But once he had time to actually rest, when she had been stabilized, the sleep did not come. It was actually as if something kept him up. The battle. The bodies that laid everything, the way Constance had died, the fact that the Black Widows were disbanded at the cost of young lives. It stung badly and he never wanted to deal with the images replaying in his mind.

Once again he was having that painful memory affecting his sleep. His brow furrowed as he saw the crazed woman grabbing the young child. He wanted to scream at her, beg her to stop what she was doing. But it wasn’t working, his voice was cut off. And as he tried to grasp towards the young girl, once more he was too late. Dead.

He began to shift in bed, his grunts and mumblings began, as it was getting too hot, especially as the woman began to yell about her never being captured. His eyes popped open immediately, his body tensing, sweating and looking confused at his surroundings. Automatically flinching as he felt a hand on his face. Blinking a few times, he saw Teagan there, looking confused. He looked embarrassed, and didn't say a word, instead wrapped on arm around her and pulled her close. He was trying to remember that everything was over, and wondering when the nightmares would end.

Under her touch, Teagan watched Mycroft's dreams take him to some place dark. In mere seconds, he went from blissful to troubled sleep. His brow knit, and incoherent sounds escaped him. Not words, exactly, but the thoughts of words. The witch simply kept up the light touches. Just a bit firmer, trying to call him out of wherever he'd gone to.

"My...hun. Please, wake up. Everything's okay, just wake up." Her words were soft as she tried to calm him. Still, it was a shock as his eyes flashed open in a moment, his breath practically gasping as his body tensed.

Teagan caught the obvious signs of shame on his face as Mycroft came to his senses. She hated this part. The fact that he still felt he needed to be strong around her. But she understood. The witch loved him no matter what, even when he was too hard on himself.

Moving into his arms, she molded his body to his, melting in the warmth that was radiating off of him. Her arms moved around him as she laid her head into the crook of his neck, placing soft kisses there.

"You're alright, My. We all are." Her fingers worked small circles into his back, trying to soothe him. "I love you," she breathed against his skin.

PostSubject: Re: Shelter (Teagan) : Rated PG-13   Shelter (Teagan) : Rated PG-13 EmptyThu Aug 07, 2014 1:08 am

Moments like this was when he remembered why he never folded under the pressure of pushing her away. The way her eyes hazel eyes shined on him worried, but in no way judgmental at his moment of weakness was what he needed. He pulled her close, as he tried to let the wave of embarrassment roll off of him. He took a deep breath, letting her scent, her feel around him bring comfort to him. He needed it, he needed to remember that everyone he loved was safe, and getting better.

"You're alright, My. We all are." Her fingers worked small circles into his back, trying to soothe him. "I love you,"

Her reassurance was enough for him to only hold her tighter as she rubbed his back. He hadn't realized how many knots had formed until she began to push down on them. He was stressed, tired, desperate for reassurance that things would be okay. And she was helping. Her words were enough for him to relax and sigh against her.

"I'm sorry" he muttered, "I love you too, so much...I missed you"

It was moments like these when a wall would no longer exist. When he needed her, when he trusted her enough to want to be with her love her, and just tell her exactly what he felt. Their engagement only solidified their love.

"Everything is over and yet...everyone I love got hurt in some way"

Shelter (Teagan) : Rated PG-13 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Shelter (Teagan) : Rated PG-13   Shelter (Teagan) : Rated PG-13 EmptyThu Aug 07, 2014 1:44 am

Mycroft's words sent butterflies to flight in her stomach. If someone had told Teagan just a few years ago that she would be here, with this man, she would have laughed them into oblivion. Their first interactions, hell, their first few months, were less than ideal. But something within her had sought him out when she needed someone. She had trusted that part, and had never looked back.

And for the first time in her life, she actually believed in love. Because they were partners. Equals. And after the hurtles of her insecurities and his walls, they had learned how to live and thrive together.

It was because of this that she cherished each time he said how much he loved her. Because it was real. Because it was theirs and no one else's.

Seeing his stress, and his worry, the witch pressed him to lay back into the mattress. Propping herself up on her elbow, she pressed her body into the space next to his, knowing just how to fit them together. Trying to relax him, her lips started making trails over his skin. The were small reassurances, as fleeting as they were, that they were here, and they were safe.

Between brushes of skin, she spoke quietly to him. "This world isn't perfect, My. Sometimes we have to stand up to those that want to tear us down. We all stood together, and...yes, we got hurt. But we're alive. That's the important part."

Her lips traveled from his face down his neck, seeking out the spots she knew would help distract him. Yes, he needed to grieve, and to heal, but sometimes, Teagan knew, he needed to leave things to the side for a while. To remember why they fought so hard for each other.

"You're getting better, I'm healing. And Tess is going to pull through soon enough, you'll see. And Rhian is safe, so you have that." Her free hand moved over his chest, resting over his still racing heart.

Shelter (Teagan) : Rated PG-13 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Shelter (Teagan) : Rated PG-13   Shelter (Teagan) : Rated PG-13 EmptyThu Aug 07, 2014 1:58 am

Mycroft's shoulders sagged as she curled herself around him. It was a natural fit, he wasn't the strongest man out there, but he was tall, and she herself was curved enough to fit his more angular parts. It was comfort, and he never knew when she had just become his home. Whether it was the castle, or a flat, the center of his home relied if she was there or not. They were their own independent people, but when they came together, it was a comfort that they each needed.

"This world isn't perfect, My. Sometimes we have to stand up to those that want to tear us down. We all stood together, and...yes, we got hurt. But we're alive. That's the important part."

Lifting his head from her breasts he let his eyes meet hers as she spoke. The way she spoke, reassured him that she understood, at least to some degree what was going on in his mind. She was right, they were okay, they would be okay, and no one had lost something serious. They were alive, but they weren't...things had changed.

"I thought I could protect them you know? Protect them from seeing how harsh the world can be. Rhian, thank Merlin Rhian is okay, I don't know if I could have" he took in a shaky breath, "and Tess...the one time she moved to me, tried to...the attack happened. And you...Tea..I wasn't there for you last time. And that day, I couldn't even protect you"

He knew well enough she could defend herself. He was so proud of her for just getting up and protecting the children, taking them to safety. It had shaken her, but at least she was there. He lifted his hand and ran his fingers through her hair, it had grown longer in such a short time.

"What did the Healer say?" he asked after a while. "Are you okay?"

Shelter (Teagan) : Rated PG-13 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Shelter (Teagan) : Rated PG-13   Shelter (Teagan) : Rated PG-13 EmptyThu Aug 07, 2014 2:46 am

Just when she thought the worst was over, feeling Mycroft relax against her, Teagan watched as his mind ran away with his words. No amount of kisses could ease the fear she could hear in his voice, see in his eyes. It wasn't irrational fear, but more the realization that he wasn't invincible. That there were forces in the world that could take his happiness away in a moment.

It was a lot for anyone to take in. And the worst part was how close they'd all been to the same danger. People weren't meant to go through so much loss. It changed them. It was part of the reason Teagan held on so firmly to Mycroft, emotionally. Because they both knew how short life was, how fleeting.

Hearing the unevenness of his words, her fingers came up to touch his lips, urging him to stop talking. It wouldn't help anyone for him to play what if's.

"But you did protect us," she told him firmly. "Right at the start, who knows how the battle would have ended if you hadn't reacted like that." She still held the bruise on her right hip from hitting the marble floor so hard. But it was worth it, for the few minutes it had bought them.

"And you can't blame yourself for that. Any of it. You weren't even there the first time, and not because you chose to. There was no reason for you to be. So that's not your fault." She hadn't even known he felt this way, after all this time. Yes, she'd battled with the memories, but she never imagined he did as well. "And that night..." she tried to suppress the slight shiver that ran down her spine. "I won't say it gets easier, cause it doesn't, but things worked out okay."

There really was no way to ease his mind other than with facts. She knew his stubbornness, and that he wouldn't let it go so easily. At his question, she felt a slight twinge in her shoulder as if it was reprimanding her for forgetting it.

"They gave me a general antidote," she said lightly, trying to avoid too much worry on his part. There was a bandage around the cut, wrapping under her arm to secure it. There were salves and such that they'd sent her home with, to decrease scarring, but they were just as unsure as she was about why it wasn't healing properly. "It...they were a bit unsure about it," she tried to be honest, "but they're confident that it will heal in time."

Shelter (Teagan) : Rated PG-13 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Shelter (Teagan) : Rated PG-13   Shelter (Teagan) : Rated PG-13 EmptyThu Aug 07, 2014 3:13 am

Mycroft was always a man that sought out control, he enjoyed knowing that everything would work smoothly because he had planned it as such. But when human lives came to play, that's when it got complicated. No one would ever factor in the human condition, their fighting spirit, their foolishness, their martyr acts. All those stressed him out more than he cared to admit.

He took in Teagan's words, appreciating the way she spoke, her tone even, comforting and he soaked in those waves of calmness. He would never shown weakness to anyone as he did Teagan, because in their room, in their bed, in her arms, it was a haven. Usually he held her, pulled her close, reassured her on things, now the roles had reversed and they reversed smoothly.

"Thank you for being honest" he commented voice raw.

He was appreciative she didn't tell him things would get better so easily. He didn't want to hear bullshit like psychologists did, telling him, promising all good fortune. He knew when he wanted the truth he would go to her.

When she continued to talk, his hand absentmindedly went over to her injury, caressing the bruise that he knew she had, it was a ugly and would take a while to heal, that much was clear. Slowly his hands moved from caressing her hips to her side and up towards her breasts, to finally land on her arm, rubbing his thumb softly against the cut frowning. His touch wasn't a sexual one, but one that was obvious he was accustomed to her body.

"I'll try to get working on some potion or salve to help with sealing it just in case. I don't want you to get an infection" he said softly.

He winced lightly as he pulled away, his side stinging from his own cuts and bruises to sit up as best he could and pull her towards him. Maybe it was time they switched off, so he could hold her close. He kissed her forehead and sighed.

"I can't sleep in any other bed if you're not in it"

Shelter (Teagan) : Rated PG-13 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Shelter (Teagan) : Rated PG-13   Shelter (Teagan) : Rated PG-13 EmptyThu Aug 07, 2014 3:54 am

Teagan simply nodded at his thanks. While it seemed like a simple matter, to some, she knew it wasn't easy to be open. For either of them. It had taken quite a while for them to learn each other. Their needs, their limitations. The dips and raises of their faults and personalities, to coexist in a way that was unique to them. It was all strange and new, yet made perfect sense. As if this was what life had intended all along.

Feeling his touch pressing into her bruise, the witch's eyes closed as she let herself experience the pressure of it. She'd always been the type of girl to poke her bruises, always fascinated by the human body and how it dealt with pain. Whether he knew it or not, Mycroft was helping her to heal, in her own way.

As his touch moved higher, she reveled in the ease with which they knew each other's form. She'd never really been a shy one with her body. But she appreciated the comfortableness of knowing another person so fully. As his hand moved over the bandage, he offered what she knew he would. A soft smile spread across her face.

"Of course you will. I expect nothing less from the man I'm going to marry."

Even though she could see his slight discomfort, she knew he'd played the role of victim long enough. His innate need to protect and defend was taking over, and she was perfectly fine with that.

At his comment, her smile turned into a bit of a smirk.

"Well, I would hope so. Otherwise, what's the point of this ring?" She wiggled the fingers of her left hand in his face, fully taking advantage of the jewelry there. She'd never loved an object so much, and made sure he understood that. Resting the hand lightly at his waist, she let one finger slip into the elastic at the top of his boxer briefs.

"Besides," she added, "I'm sure it's not as fun without me, either."

"Of course you will. I expect nothing less from the man I'm going to marry.

For the first time, in longer than he could remember Mycroft laughed softly. Her humor was something that he relished, to simply forget the stress around him. He wasn't one to get easily stressed, but when he did, it did shake him, and usually affected him in every way. But Teagan's disposition helped greatly with the way he handled things at the moment. She never sugar-coated, instead told him the truth that he didn't always want to hear, but appreciated the honesty all the more.

"You have such high expectations of me" he grumbled.

He pulled her close and took a deep breath, taking her in. His hands automatically went to her hips, and pulled her close, letting her drape on his side. He sighed kissing her forehead and pressed his cheek at the top of her head. Her joke made him laughed once more and pinched her side lightly.

"I thought the point of the ring was to compare it to other women and see that yours is better...as for how fun the bed is...definitely funner when you're there" he said chuckling.

He took advantage of the silence and sighed.

"Thank you"
