As March rolled in, Jake was feeling a little lost with himself. Being back how with his parents was by no means a bad thing, but going to bed each evening alone was something he was finding hard to get used to. He would though, because this was life, and there was no point moping around. Things would brighten up, he just had to make sure he allowed for that to happen.

Jake looked around his room which was set out once more with no desks in it. On the board read the words "Knockback Jinx." Sitting on his desk, Jake waited for the first students to enter the room, a small welcoming smile in place as the last round of lessons for the year came in to play.

Violet wasn't in the mood for class, but she decided to go, purely because she wanted to succeed. That was the key factor with anything she decided. Normally, if it didn't entertain her or it didn't help her get a leg up on everyone else, she discarded it. She had no need for petty things. She walked into the classroom, dropping her bag to the floor lazily and gave the Professor a small nod of acknowledgement.

Natasha could hardly decide what her favourite class was, but she was certain that DADA was right up there. She was happy to have it next on her timetable, so she walked quickly and briskly to the class, dropping her bag at the door and giving a small smile, as to not look too eager "Morning Professor," she said to him before she read on the board what they would be doing today.

With only two students here, Jake gave them both a warm smile as they entered the room. There were usually more, but with two he could work with quite easily. "Right, ladies, we'll start and if any one else wants to join us they can. Today, as the board shows, we will be working on the Knockback Jinx. Can you each tell me something about the spell? Anything at all, but be mindful to let others have a go."

Jake looked between the two of them, hopeful that they would know some things about the spell.

Kedzie was stunned when she looked at the clock and saw she was late. This is what she got from reading a good book. The Ravenclaw ran towards the class but not fast enough to get into trouble by anyone. Kedzie saw the room in full view and slowed down. When she came right in front of it she opened the door and walked in. "Sorry Professor Jake" she apologized and joined the other two girls.

She listened as Jake introduced the lesson, today studying the knockable jinx. She was about to answer when another girl came in late to the lesson. She waited while the girl apologised before she spoke up "The incantation is 'Flipendo'" she said. She could have gone on, but Jake had made a point of mentioning to let others have a go of answering, so she didn't add further information.

The knockback jinx was easy enough. Violet remained quiet while the little Ravenclaw girl ran in late, and the other one answered Jakes question. This lesson was going to be a breeze, and while Violet enjoyed easy marks, she preferred earning good marks through sweat. Nevertheless, she answered the question "As its name suggests, the effect is that it repels or knocks an opponent over. Simple," she said, evidently not pleased with the ease of the lesson.

"Sorry Professor Jake"

"That's okay, Kedzie." Jake replied with a small smile to the witch. She was late, but at least she had good manners. That much Jake would allow to slide. "We're studying the Knockback Jinx today, so when you're ready to join in you may." Jake explained to the witch.

Soon after two answers came and Jake smiled at the two students. "Both of you are correct, take five points each!" Jake told the witches, glad that they had done their reading for today's class. "Now, for today we will be trying this on dummies. If we get far enough, we might try it on each other, but I'll decide when I see everyone's progress." Jake told the witches, motioning them to the dummies behind them.

"If each of you could please take up your position in front of a dummy and have a go at using the spell, I will move between you and help if and where necessary. Also, if you have a question, please don't hesitate to ask." Jake told them, waving them off to have a go.

Kedzie walked over to a dummy with her wand in hand. She wasn't highly sure on how to do this spell but she had heard about it from a lot of people. Kedzie raised her wand and made sure it was pointing at the dummy. "Flipendo" nothing happened. She looked at the others before turning back to her dummy. "Flipendo" again nothing. She sighed and turned to face Jake. "Professor Jake, what am I doing wrong here?" She asked.

She rolled her eyes when they were told to practise on a dummy. She would rather practise it on living people if they were going to learn something so easy. But she kept her thoughts silent and walked to the dummy. Aiming her wand, she cast "Flipendo", pronouncing it clearly and confidently. The dummy flew backwards, and with the strength of her spell, hit the wall behind. She looked over to Jake "Anything more challenging, or can I leave now?" she said plainly, doubting that they would get to practising with others going by the Ravenclaw's progress (or lack thereof).

"Professor Jake, what am I doing wrong here?"

Jake had noted Kedzie giving the spell a go and had watched to see how the witch had done, it became instantly apparent as to where she was going wrong. The professor waited a moment, to see if she could correct herself, but the call of help came and Jake moved closer, taking his own wand out it's holder.

"You're forgetting the wand movement." Jake explained to the witch, showing her precisely how it was done. "Go ahead and give it another shot!" The professor encouraged with a warm smile, stepping back to give the Ravenclaw a bit of space to have a go.

Anything more challenging, or can I leave now?"

Looking to the Hufflepuff, Jake noted how she'd pushed it all the way back with a great first try. "Well done, Violet." Jake told the witch with a warm smile, flicking his wand towards her dummy that reset itself. "Have another go now. You'll have to try very hard to move it now. Lots of concentration and continued powerful spell. If you can do that, I will be mightily impressed!"

"Have another go now. You'll have to try very hard to move it now. Lots of concentration and continued powerful spell. If you can do that, I will be mightily impressed!"

"Okay then," she said with a shrug as she aimed her wand at the dummy once more, casting 'flipendo' a couple of times with no great concentration. This time, it was more difficult to move. She stopped for a moment, to gather all her concentration, and all her focus together. Aiming her wand again at the dummy, while she focussed clearly, blocking everything else out, with just the dummy in front of her, stuck solid to the ground.

"Flipendo!" she cast. And with a massive amount of blue light erupting from her wand, the dummy plunged backwards into the wall again and then fell to the floor with a thud, and she smirked to herself.
