Personality:
Alexus has always been an inscrutable individual. Unlike the vast majority of his family, he was not solely concerned with the interests of the, as they put it, income, but cared more for the happiness of the family. Even when his uncle was killed, Alexus did not seek revenge out of personal feelings and left the case in the hands of the aurors knowing full well they would work to punish those who harmed his family. This remarkably open-minded and tolerant attitude was made possible by his peace-loving nature, as well as his respect for the family's history.
Background:
Alexus was born to two halfbloods, Malphas and Chase Salander, and was regarded as the heir, as the chosen member of the family. He grew up being given anything he wanted and being trained in sword fighting and bowmanship. Not that he asked for any of it he instead wished to live in peace and to hear the birds sing, but that was out of question because his family regarded him as the genius of this generation.
Truth was, although Alexus did have the abilities his family believed he did, being strong and intelligent, he lacked purpose as he needed not to train because he had nothing to train for. However his uncle Alexander, Lex as he called him, convinced him to make his family proud, because after they lost their purity, all they could hope was to have a strong member, that could make the Salanders rise up and be 'famous' again.
But Alexus disregarded all that, up until his uncle Lex was murdered by an unknown force. He began training and excelling at everything because he finally had a drive, revenge. At Hogwarts his grades were always amazing in theory and in practice as well. He showed a prowess like no other member of his family and needed not any special ability to be rated as an amazing student and wizard even at his young age.

Family Background:
The Salanders were once a pure blooded family, but, over the years lost their purity and became mostly composed of halfbloods with perhaps only one or two pure blooded wizards left. They are somewhat wealthy, enough to own a compound where their entire family lives, and to have a collection of weapons at their disposal other than their wands.
In the past they never took a side and remained neutral which in turn made them not be targeted and live in peace.
