Herbology & DADA Lesson 2 - All Years Empty
PostSubject: Herbology & DADA Lesson 2 - All Years   Herbology & DADA Lesson 2 - All Years EmptyWed Jun 04, 2014 12:40 pm

Working with Azalea in regards to his teaching had become something of a habit for Jake. The Quidditch star had no shame in admitting lesson planning was not one of his strengths, and would quite openly say that the lessons he had been teaching were a lot of Azalea's ideas mixed in to one. This lesson, Azalea and Jake had come up with the idea of joining their classes together, with the permission of Professor Holmes.

With the January weather still making everything very cold, snow still clinging to the grass, Jake had watched his girlfriend wander off in to the woods apprehensively. He worried about her much more these days, especially with the heavy news that had come over Christmas.

But today was not the time to reflect on what they didn't have, it was time to go in to teacher mode. Azalea had left an array of small ribbons for the teams, telling him she had to get the parameters ready to keep the kids safe. Jake had nodded, watching the witch go in to the woods until the darkness had consumed her.

Stay out of trouble, stay out of trouble. Jake chanted in his head, looking back up to the castle for a sign of students. They'd been told to dress warmly, and Jake pulled his burgundy Moose Jaw Meteorites jacket around him tighter. Warmer than Canada, that was for sure, but still cold.

When Josh had heard that his Azalea was sharing classes with the mutely competent Professor Newbury, he'd thought little and less of it. His Azalea was always full of surprises in that respect, so today was likely no different. Heading down to the meeting area with his Slytherin jacket in place, Josh noted that only Professor Newbury was visible.

"Professor." Josh acknowledged, frowning slightly at the lack of female presence. She had to be here somewhere, didn't she? Josh reasoned in his head, it was just a matter of waiting. Yes, that was what it was. His Azalea was just going to bring forth a surprise.

Joe had long since made his decision, and now it was just a waiting game until he knew he could slip away unnoticed. That didn't mean he would stop caring, though, no, he would attend all of his classes until that point so that no-one would suspect a thing. That was what he had decided to do as he pulled a warm hoodie over his head and walked leisurely towards the way out of the castle, a bitter chill hitting him square in the face but in all honesty, he couldn't bring himself to be fussed about it.

Feeling was more effort than it was worth.

The Hufflepuff made his way to the forest, confused as to why on earth Azalea had chosen it as their meeting place. She honesetly had some of the most odd ideas. His legs carried him slowly, for once not bothering to look around him and see if he was being followed, because for once he didn't care.

The faces he saw were the face hes had been dreading. Professor Newbury. After the problem that had arisen in his last defense lesson, Joe had been avoiding the man like the plague through nothing but embarrassment. But hauntingly for the boy, Josh Murray. The blond hair that fell oh so perfectly and the eyes that could get his own way in a heartbeat. "Morning," he said weakly, quietly, fumbing shyly with his thumbs behind his back.

PostSubject: Re: Herbology & DADA Lesson 2 - All Years   Herbology & DADA Lesson 2 - All Years EmptyWed Jun 04, 2014 1:40 pm

The vines had to be perfectly in place for this one, and despite the numbness that coated her world these days, Azalea made an effort to pay attention. Jake and she would need about forty different eyes into the forest and that relied solely on her and her ability to sense out the kids should there be any trouble,

Once her invisible net network of veins had been submerged underneath the frozen grounds, Azalea made her way back to the clearing only to see that some of the students had already arrived.

"Hi guys," Azalea greeted Josh and Joe, her usually bright smile not quite reaching her eyes as she waved to the two boys. Standing in her usual jeans and top, the young brunette wore a maroon Moosejaw Meteorites Jacket similar to the one adorning Jake's back, the collar turned up to keep her safe from the cold that always seeped in now anyway.

"Parameters all look good, Professor Newbury," she called out to Jake who stood with the two boys. "But I'll be keeping an eye out anyway, the cold isn't their favourite." she added with regards to her vines.

Alyson never heard of people combining classes before until now, she was excited in a way but also curious. Herbology and Defense Against the Dark Arts were both amazing classes so she was absolutely curious on how this would turn out. She had heard that the Professors from both classes were a thing and she thought it was really sweet. The Gryffindor got to where the class was being held (not petrified at all) and stood by to see what would go down.

Bryson was stunned to hear about the classes combining but he got over it pretty fast, the one thing he was more confused about was why the Forbidden Forest? Yes it was bigger but still, why would anyone want to have classes there? It was completely insane. Yes there were times in the past he would enter the Forbidden Forest but he'd exit the Forest not that long after, going in during the day wasn't bad but at night.. it was terrible. When he arrived at the site, he waited for further instructions.

PostSubject: Re: Herbology & DADA Lesson 2 - All Years   Herbology & DADA Lesson 2 - All Years EmptyWed Jun 04, 2014 10:50 pm

The school holidays had helped her get back on her feet, and although she wasn't a hundred percent better, she was making an honest effort to return to normal. The news of the combined class had excited her, but a cold chill had soon followed when she noted that it was to be a lesson with all years - the location hadn't helped, either. Still, she tried not to let it get to her and she walked towards the Forbidden Forest, Tristan following next to her. He had not kept quiet, speculating the subjects they would learn, and she had listened, chiming in with one or two of her own ideas to keep up the image that everything was fine.

Tristan had indeed bought the half-truth told to him by their parents, and had not questioned her or them in regards to her health. Forcing herself to pretend that hell hadn't happened was one of the hardest things she reckoned she ever had to do, but - with only Merlin knowing how - she did it, and Tristan had been none the wiser. Now, as he spotted the small group of people at the edge of the forest, his speed increased and he was a few steps in front of Brooke.

"Wait for me!" she called, a teasing tone in her voice, but her intent serious. He turned back and she caught up with him, putting out a hand to playfully ruffle his hair. She was not going to let him out of her sight, because he would be there and there was no way she would give the older Slytherin a change to get to Tristan. They joined the rest of the students together.

The first person she saw was Joe, and her heart did a little skipping motion to match the butterflies that once again made themselves familiar to her. But then she caught sight of him. Of ... Josh ... and all those good feelings were replaced with fear and disgust, and was it just her or was the air getting thinner? Looking away, she forced a painful breath, followed by another and another until she could breathe normally again. "It's colder than I thought it would be," she commented to Tristan, her voice louder than she expected, and she flushed slightly.

Switching her attention to the front, she smiled at both her professors. "Morning Jake, morning Professor Harrington," she greeted, the cheerfulness in her voice only partially faked. "How were your holidays?"

Ryan was a little excited to be attending this type of combined class. He hadn't seen it happen before but who was he to judge? The Gryffindor silently made his way to the Forbidden Forest and saw others already there. He didn't really feel like mingling with the others so he was just going to stay to himself completely and try not to worry about what the others were going to do around him. Ryan stood there in absolute silence and waited for the class to start.

He had enjoyed his holidays and spending time with his new family. He had, of course, been worried when he arrived home and found that Brooke had been back for a week already, but he understood immediately when Aurelia and Caleb had pulled him aside and quietly explained that Brooke had passed out due to girl problems. Christmas had been a great experience for him - he had never before celebrated it, and the love he felt was overwhelming.

The idea of a combined class was interesting, and it meant spending more time with his sister, so he wasn't about to complain. They had left and arrived together, and he was getting more and more excited for this lesson.

"It's colder than I thought it would be,"

Her loud voice startled him, but he nodded in agreement. "I don't mind it, actually," he said, tilting his head in an inquisitive manner, wondering why she had said it at that volume. "I hope we get to work together," he added, changing topic.

"I hope so, too," Brooke replied, and he grinned at her, not knowing that her reasoning was drastically different from his: he wanted to work with her because he thought it would be fun, while she only had protecting him on her mind.

Realizing he had forgotten to greet his professors, he turned back towards the front and smiled shyly at them. "Hello Professor Newbury, Professor Harrington," he said softly, still not fully comfortable with communicating with other people as he was with his family.

Cassidy had loved the Christmas holidays. She'd loved doing nothing, and eating the good christmas food. But now, it was time for school, which she was also happy for, staying around her family for too long could be a tad overwhelming. She very much liked the idea of a joined class, with Herbology and DADA, she figured it'd be interesting.

She walked through the forest to their meeting place, crossing her arms around herself to protect from the chill of the forest. She spotted the others and walked over to them, "Hi Jake, Azalea," she smiled before she went over to stand near Josh quietly.

Lucy's holiday had been spectacular. She'd gotten to spend it with her older sister (who she had come to miss dearly) and her parents (who still insisted on smothering the sisters). But other than the smothering, the break had been good, and needed. She pulled her cloak tight around her as she made her way into the forbidden forest for the combined class of Herbology and DADA. She was very intrigued to see what they'd be doing this lesson.

"Hi Jake, hi Aza," the witch greeted cheerily as she approached the group.

The weather was absolutely freezing, and Natasha pulled her coat around her tightly. She had made sure to layer up, but the wind still chilled her to the bone. She much preferred the summer weather than the dull dark of winter. She had spent the break at home, with her family, as per usual, and it had been quite a lovely time.

She walked over to where she saw the group standing waiting for the lesson, and greeted the teachers with a nod. She wasn't one for speaking very much.

Violet spent the holidays at school. She didn't fancy going home, she much preferred to stay at the mostly empty castle to look around at things. Well, that and she couldn't stand to be around her parents, she wanted to stay away from them as much as possible. In her opinion, the both of them were so moronic, that just the thought made her shudder slightly. She was inherently glad that idiocy wasn't inheritable.

She loved the cool bite of wind on her cheeks, and the coldness of the snow radiating from the ice. Everything felt crisp and fresh as she walked through one of her favourite places, the forest. She got to the area where they were meeting for the combined lesson, and as per usual, she didn't bother to acknowledge anyone already there.

He stood quietly, watching more people arrive. Brooke, too, had kept the silence intact, and he wondered what she was thinking about. Lately, he had noticed she spent more time deep in thought than actually talking. At one point, he wondered if it had anything to do with her early return from Hogwarts, but he had written it off almost immediately, not doubting for a second that what he had been told was anything less than the complete and utter truth.

A familiar face had then appeared, and he smiled slightly. Brooke, who had not taken her eyes away from him, noticed this immediately, and gave him a nudge. "Go say hi, silly," she whispered to him. A few more encouragements were needed before he finally took the few steps to the side.

"Hello," he said, blushing slightly. "How are you?" He hoped she remembered him, because if she didn't, that would really be embarrassing, and Merlin knew he was not ready for anything of that nature just yet.

Kedzie had never heard of two people combining her class but she was excited, it was new and she was always up for trying new things that some people never approved of. The Ravenclaw girl got to where the class was being held and saw that there was a pretty good turn out and that was always a good thing for her. Kedzie just waited to see what would be done with the class, it was Herbology and DADA all mixed into one, that meant something good was going to happen in the class and she was stoked.

As the first two students arrived, Jake gave both of them a smile. "Good morning, Josh, Joe." Jake spoke, noting the distance between the two of them. Probably a little feud there by the look of things, though Jake made no comment. He was going to leave the teams to Azalea as she'd mentioned doing this before.

"Parameters all look good, Professor Newbury,"

Jake smiled at Azalea's formal nature, before nodding at the witch. "Thank you, Professor Harrington." Jake replied copying the tone, slightly cheekily, but never going beneath professional. The mention of the cold and her vines made Jake nod. "We'll be fine." He added reassuringly, because nothing would come to harm the children whilst both of them were looking out for them.

"Good morning, Alyson." Jake added as the Gryffindor came in to view, followed closely by another Gryffindor. "Bryson." Jake acknowledged, taking up his register and ticking of the names of those who had already come.

The next duo brought Tristan and Brooke together, the last names stated them family of some kind, though Jake couldn't be entirely sure what. "Good morning, Brooke, Tristan." Jake replied to the witch warmly, once again ticking names off. "My holidays were okay, thank you." Jake said uncertainly, before forcing a smile. "I hope yours were good too." He added.

Another Gryffindor came in to the group a moment later, and with a quick check for names he didn't know, Jake found the boys name. "Good morning, Ryan!" He acknowledged the boy, ticking off the name. "And Cassidy!" He added not a moment later. This class was getting busy.

Lucy, Natasha and Violet followed a moment later, once again being greeted by Jake before another new kid came in to view. "You must be Kedzie, welcome to class!" Jake acknowledged the little Ravenclaw with a smile.

"If you give us a moment, Azalea and I will begin to put you in to teams, but we're still waiting on a number of students, so feel free to chat and relax until class starts." Jake advised the people already here.

Shiva sprinted towards the class, she had gotten caught up with writing an owl that she didn't realize what the time was until she was finished her writing. Now she was just hoping that she wasn't late for the first time of combining two different classes together. Shiva finally arrived and just saw Jake finish speaking. "Sorry if I'm late" Shiva apologized. She was hoping and praying that she wasn't late.

Skye was dying, he wasn't being dramatic-well, not that dramatic-but Skye was dying. Whoever decided that moving class to the outside, where it was cold, and almost half a mile father-or at least felt half a mile- than his normal class, was not his friend right now.
Skye couldn't feel anything, except the bone deep exhaustion and the pounding in his head, the rest of him was frozen.
Seeing a large crowd already formed Skye tried to pick up his pace, he really did, but give the guy a break, he had just been let free from the hospital wing, and was then excepted to lug himself all over their much to large-like really, who needs all these rooms- castle.
Finally reaching the gathered people, Skye spotted Josh immediately. Going to the opposite area Skye stood by Brooke, not too close, but near her.
He smiled at Azalea, she was who had saved him, and one of the people he liked to talk to. She seemed...off. He hoped she was ok.
"Hey, Brooke, Tristan" he nodded at them.

Bugger it all! Louise was running across the lawn of the castle grounds to get to Herbology? No DADA and Herbology, bugger it! She cursed in her head as she made her way to the forest's edge and winced seeing there were students there already. She slowed down and checked her appearance, after all people were drilling it into her head that she had to look her best at all times. Stupid rules. She griped to herself and she pulled her winter cloak around herself and made her way into the group and smiling at the Professors. "So sorry I'm late, Have I missed anything?" She asked, looking quite flushed from the cold and embarrassment. She spotted Skye and offered him a small smile, she hoped he'd enjoyed the hamper she'd sent him during his stay in the Hospital wing.

As Professor Harrington stepped out of the forest, Josh's mood towards the lesson shifted in to something much less worried about her lack of attendance. At least they wouldn't be stuck with the hotshot Quidditch star.

"Hi guys,"

"Professor." Josh replied as the witch moved over to Professor Newbury. The matching jackets made Josh double take for a second. The Moose Jaw Meteorites logo emblazoned on both the professor's chests, and the number seven opposite it. Matching jackets... Josh's eyes moved inquisitively to his Azalea then to the other professor. If he'd had known his Azalea was cold, he would have brought his Slytherin jacket for her, but it seemed Professor Newbury had beaten him to it. Yes, that was what it was.

But Josh would watch the male professor closely from now on.

The Slytherin's attention was taken as auburn hair caught the his eye, Cassidy had moved next to him, though she hadn't acknowledged him. "Young." Josh acknowledged shortly, his attention moving back to the professors as he tried to work out the significance of the matching jackets.

Haylen walked into the forbidden forest, her arms hugged tightly against herself. She'd hoped to of made at least a few friends by now, but no luck. Maybe it was because she wasn't very social, but she didn't know. Looking into the distance, she saw a group of students surrounding two professors. 'I guess that's where I'm supposed to go,' she thought as she made her way toward the group.

"Hi," she said meekly to nobody in particular. She dragged her feet along the green forest ground over to a tree and leaned against it. 'I guess I'll just wait for class to begin,' she told herself.

Thana came back from the school holidays refreshed and happy, she made her way down to her class. It was slightly chilly outside and Thana loved it, the colder weather meant more fun! Well at least in her opinion anyway, she had on a light thermo jacket and was ready for the day. Thana made her way down to her class, seeing not only Professor Aza, but also Professor Newbury, "Hello Professors" she said to them both before going to lean against a tree, noticing that another girl had had the same idea. A Hufflepuff, "Hey" she said to the girl, nodding and speaking.

Making sure her boots were properly tied, Tess took off towards the usual trek towards the Forbidden forest. She wasn't used to the lessons taking place there, but she was used to having her nightly walks there. There were definite perks to having more reign of the campus, but now, it was for a lesson.

Many things were happening around her, personal family things, but now it was time to push that away to go to classes. She hadn't been on point, but now she needed to do better. Finally finding the spot for the lesson, she noticed that it was packed with students and she pushed through new people to be closer and listen to both professors. She gave both of them a half smile, and murmured a greeting knowing how busy they were.

Conner had been a bit distracted lately. Everything wasn't really workingin his life, and he wanted to simply distract hiimself from reality, find comfort in Rhian, and just push away hardship. But Rhian had correctly reminded him to still attend classes so he could actually graduate. He wasn't the happiest with her reminder of real life, but he knew he had to. His mother would have wanted him to do so. And with that, he trekked towards the class.

He realized he was right behind Tess and sighed, forcing himself to slow down and not have an awkward walk together. He stayed towards the back of the class waiting for it to begin and wondering where Rhian was.
