Potions (1st-3rd) Empty
PostSubject: Potions (1st-3rd)   Potions (1st-3rd) EmptySat May 03, 2014 9:36 am

James was a bit nervous at the prospect of being up in front of so many people, but Zalea had asked and he would do just about anything for his pseudo-sister, especially since she'd helped him after he came back. Even if that was standing up in front of people and talking for a while. Besides, it was only a few hours, how hard could it be?

It was comforting to be back at Salem again, and the Potions lab had sparked a few more memories. He'd even found his own old lab and poked his head in, breathing the familiar smells with a smile, then returning to his station. Before the students had a chance to come in, he turned around and wrote 'Professor James Reonalds' on the board, wondering a little at how it looked. Beneath it, he wrote 'Wiggenweld Potion' in the same script, then sat at the desk and waved his wand, opening the door for students.

The Wormwood skipped with merry confidence down to the dungeons and into her potions classroom, mildly pondering what she would be learning. It didn't matter, of course, because the professor always managed to make their classes lively and interesting, but Isabelle couldn't help but hope that her first ever potions lesson would be fun. Her eyes instantly darted to the professor and she shot him a sweet smile, taking a seat in the front row.

"Hello Professor Reonalds," the third year said with a tone of utmost innocence in her voice. "Did you have a nice summer?" He looked nervous, and Isabelle couldn't imagine for the life of her why he would be. Was he scared of being in front of people? People weren't something to be feared, the Wormwood had always told herself. No, the right people weren't something to be feared. Of course, there were the wrong sort of people, but they just needed to learn to dance in the rain.

Gillian walked towards the potions dungeon, her backpack heavy from the books, and without haste, seeing how it was so close to her common room; besides she was a bit early for the class; Gillian liked to be early, if not on time for everything, and seeing how potions was one of her favourite classes, she was going to arrive early enough to get a good seat and prepare the things she needed.

Once she walked in the room, she noticed that it wasn't professor Mycroft standing at the front of the class, but someone else, a man that looked quite young, but she wasn't sure just how young, so she just stood there at the door, wondering if he was going to assign seats. "mmm, excuse me" she said looking for something to clue her in of his name. She noticed the sign that told the teacher's name and a potion's name right under it. "Professor Reonalds?, Good day" she said shyly "are we allowed to sit anywhere or do you have something planned?" she asked waiting eagerly to sit down and start looking for the potion in her book.

James returned greetings, glancing at a list of labelled pictures so he could use names. "Hello, Miss Demonté. Yes, I had a wonderful summer, thank you." It wasn't quite the truth; strange and altogether life changing would probably be better. But he supposed that it was also wonderful, in many ways." Nodding to the second arrival, he said. "Hello Miss Arkanian. You may sit anywhere you like."

Only a few students had entered the classroom, but it was time to start and James decided that they would just have to be late. "Good morning. As I'm assuming you've read, my name is Professor Reonalds. I'm subbing for Professor Holmes while he is away. Now, can any of you tell me anything about the potion we will be brewing today, the Wiggenweld potion? Properties, ingredients, uses? Anything is acceptable."

Gillian gave a small nod and a smile to the professor, and proceeded to sit down at her preferred spot near the front but not the first line of desks, and slightly to the right. She took all of her implements for the start of the class, and before the professor started talking, she quickly took her potions book and skimmed it until she found the theory for the potion written on the chalkboard.

As the professor made an introduction and she wrote thee title/name of the potion and started copying the ingredients and instructions, that was her secret for learning: if she copied something down, she didn't need to re-read it again, it just stuck to her mind.

After finishing writing, and seeing how nobody seemed to want to answer the question, she said softly "it says here that it is a healing potion and that it can wake people from sleep caused by magic" pointing to her book. All of this was said while her face turned slowly into a deep shade of red; Gillian didn't like to speak out loud in classes, she greatly preferred to listen and copy down stuff, but it seemed kind of unfair to the professor, that no one wanted to answer.

Jaden couldn't believe that she was late for class. She knew that Sadie would have something to say about this. But her parents would be harder on her. But she then walked into the classroom and just sat at the back. She hoped that the professor wouldn't realize that she was late. Because the last thing that she need was for house points to be taken away. She knew that Nightshade was doing good this year. And there was chance that they could take the house cup away from the Wormwoods. But she sat back quickly just listening.
