General appearance & special features: He normally wears a black, burgandy, navy or dark green long-sleeved shirt unbuttoned to about the centre of his torso, with the sleeves rolled up to just below his elbow. Wearing his shirt in this way shows off his tanned chest with a tattoo of a black eagle mid-flight, the head in the centre of his chest and the claws of its feet by his belly button, wings outstretched across the front of his biceps and forearms. He wears his shirt tucked into tight black jeans. He also wears black combat boots and a thick black belt. Upon his belt sits a pouch for his silver hipflask, as well as two more pouches for his sketchpad/pencil and a silver pocketknife heavily detailed with the depiction of a forest. He wears two small silver rings in one earlobe, and his father's old gold-coated eagle talon pendant. His other tattoos are: "all I loved" sideways along one forearm and "I loved alone" sideways along the other; a red, black, green and gold dragon about a foot long on his right thigh; a black anchor, infused with magic to turn gold when the ocean is nearby, on the nape of his neck.

Personality: Valentin despises anyone who attempts to judge him and his attitude before they take the time to get to know him. Despite sleeping around, he hopes to eventually find love; although, he doesn't look for it, and is waiting for it to find him (he is secretly a hopeless romantic behind all his swagger and passion). He adores the ocean and travelling on ships. He is 6ft tall and well-muscled. He has chin-length, wavy, dark brunette hair, as well as very dark brown eyes with piercing green flecks, and a short beard and moustache which frame full lips.
Background and family background: His father used to beat his sister, Ana, and his mother. Mirabella finally pulled together the courage to leave Kyon when Valentin was twelve, but was very emotional over being forced to leave without her children that she unsuccessfully disapparated - she ended up splinched, missing a large chunk out of her torso, on a bridge. Disorientated and in agony, she slipped on her own blood, into the water, and drowned. When she was sixteen, Ana moved out of the house. She never contacted her father again, but sent Valentin the occasional letter. Although his father never laid a finger on him, Kyon's assassin friends thought that he needed toughening up after the years of his mother "keeping him cushioned". They trained him at every spare moment, turning him into a lethal machine. He also adopted his father's lifestyle of sleeping around, losing his virginity at age thirteen and becoming increasingly sexually skilled and adapt at reducing women to giggling messes in the years following. His animagus form is a large black eagle, whom is known as Brimnir. In both his eagle form and his human, he typically commands a great amount of respect. Being a man who favours black, leather, and tattoos, many people assume - rightly - that he is a rebellious, perhaps dangerous individual. The students at Durmstrang tended to avoid him, and so he had few friends, but was extremely loyal to the friends that he did have there.
Valentin was at his own drunken sixteenth birthday party with his father and his father's friends, and they were playing Russian Roulette. A man named Lucian shot himself in the head, and Valentin witnessed it from barely three feet away. This proceeded to mess Valentin's mentality up, and he was driven to the brink of insanity by his own thoughts. Kyon sent Valentin a letter a few weeks later telling him that it was all a practical joke on Valentin, and that Lucian is still alive. He has since recovered from the news, but it has left him even angrier than he was before towards his father, plus able to see Thestrals.
Valentin lost all love for his father as a young boy, and eventually stopped contact with him when he moved out just after his sixteenth birthday to live with a friend in England. In doing so, he changed schools and went to Hogwarts instead. He received a letter a week after his seventeenth birthday to alert him that his father was dead. On looking down at his father's corpse during the funeral, Valentin did no more than apologise for leaving, although he didn't truly mean it, and take the necklace Kyon always wore (an eagle talon covered with a thin layer of gold, hung on a thin black rope) before leaving. To this day, he doesn't know why or how his father died, but suspects that he fell out with one of his fellow assassins.
Valentin's occasional contact with his sister became more frequent, until they met up once more a few days after their father's death and began living together. Valentin was contacted by the Assassin's Guild his father was a part of to join them, and, needing the money, did so. Because of the training he received from the age of twelve onwards, as well as his natural flair for stealth and charm, he quickly became known as one of the best assassins in the guild. The more cruel of the assassins in the guild boiled with jealousy, eventually kidnapping Valentin and Ana and forcing him to watch as they slowly tortured and killed his sister.
Left alone, with no family left alive that he knows of, Valentin's experience with and interest in dark magic led to him summoning his mother's spirit. He summoned her twice more after the first time (once a week later and the second time a month later) but saw how it pained her, so let her go - but not before he left the guild at her request.
Sometimes, Valentin has flashes of the darkness that haunts his heart, and will spend time alone in the Forbidden Forest or with the centaurs that live there. He has a strong bond with Ozzie, a house-elf that serve him. Ozzie has served the Draganov family for 73 years of his life, and Valentin inherited him when Kyon died. Valentin quickly made Ozzie aware that he could leave whenever he wanted to, and to feel no obligation to serve him. Ozzie stayed anyway, as he greatly likes and respects Valentin, and initially rejected Valentin's offer of payment, but then finally accepted to be paid a galleon a day - Valentin couldn't make him accept any more. Ozzie often visits Valentin at Hogwarts, and lives at their vineyard home in Southern France.
