PostSubject: James M. Dolan   James M. Dolan EmptyWed Jul 10, 2013 8:12 pm

Full Name: James M. Dolan
Birthdate: September 7th
Age: (if an adult)
Country of Origin: Ireland
Current Home: London
General appearance: Brown hair, Blue eyes, Up side of average height, Toned but not overly muscular
Special Features: N/A
Blood purity: Half blood
Sexual alignment: Straight

Personality: Neither the smartest, nor the dullest of students, James seems to care more about the social interactions within any setting than the work involved. He is a charming, intriguing young man, who is always looking for something new. While he enjoys new adventures and puzzles, he sometimes loves to sit back and watch others interact, learning things from that alone.

Background: James was raised solely by his father, his mother having died in child birth. While no one would view Christoff as a vicious man, he rarely chose home life over his job, leaving James at home alone quite a bit when he was growing up. He wasn’t alone though. An old friend of the Christoff family, Mrs. Raven, had kindly agreed to watch young James.
She nurtured him natural charm and need for grand adventures and puzzles, constantly encouraging him to meet new people. Understanding both the wizarding and muggle worlds from a young age, James made friends fast with the children in the muggle area which they lived in. While he knew not to let them know about the hidden side of him, anyone who met James would speak about how wonderfully enthusiastic and thrilling the young boy was to be around.
It was no surprise, then, when he received his letter to Hogwarts. He had not made many friends in the wizarding world, due to his father’s family troubles, but he was anxious to be in a new setting with a whole new set of people to interact with. Through the years, James has skated by in the background of the general goings on in Hogwarts. While teachers are generally fond of him, they do not view him as an overachiever, nor a trouble student. He is generally ready to try anything and everything new, and seems to enjoy watching others work almost as much as trying the new things himself.

Family:
Mother: Rowena Dolan / (23) / Dead / Muggle
Father: Christoff Dolan / 40 / Living / Pureblood
Siblings: N/A
Pet: N/A
Other: N/A

Family Background: James’s father married his mother out of love, knowing that his family would not understand his choice to go against the pureblood way of life. It wasn’t simply that he was marrying a muggle, it was that she was so unworthy and uninteresting to them that they never understood the appeal. Because of their blatant disregard for his father, James did not grow up with any extended family on the Dolan side. And while his mother was rather close with her own family, Christoff insisted on moving her away from Ireland so he would be closer to his work.

James sat on the cold, hard stone, looking out over the other graves. This one was rather large, and had a no-nonsense way about it. Just like Ms. Raven had. Tossing his second apple of the morning into the air, he caught it and promptly took a bite. Looking around the large graveyard, he could see a few people here and there. Tears in their eyes, flowers in their hands. They were all so predictable and boring. One couple in particular had been talking to a headstone for almost an hour now. Going on about their daily lives, updates on relatives and such.

So, this is what normal people are like? James sneered, his hands working over the skin of the apple. Carving idly. No, he thought. He would not be spilling his thoughts out to a worthless piece of stone. Because no one was there. No one was listening. And he’d be damned if he’d look like an ordinary idiot like the rest of them.

Lifting his eyes to the sky, he smirked knowingly. Ms. Raven had been the one to convince his father to send him to Durmstrang last school year. She’d gone there herself, once they’d allowed girls to attend after the war, and had insisted it to James’ father last summer. Not really caring, as per usual, the man had agreed and signed the proper documents for the transfer. The man hadn’t even bothered to make sure he’d gotten there on the first day.

But none of that matter. He didn’t matter. Having opted to stay at the castle over holidays, James’ father was shocked when he’d returned after the year. The hardness that had always been just below the surface in the boys eyes had blossomed. Bringing forth the developed version of himself that had always been just visible. While James did well to play the doting son in the beginning, he knew his father was anxious around him now. Making excuses to leave the house as much as possible. It wasn’t even until a few weeks into the summer that he’d found out Ms. Raven had died a few months ago.

There were no reasons for appearances after that, and he and his father came to an...understanding. Summer was easy after that, and he’d been left in relative peace to do as he pleased.

But everything came to an end eventually, and it was time to go back to that useless excuse for a school. For reasons that he kept only to himself, he was not welcome back in the German school for another year. A wicked, almost manic smile played at his lips as memories of that girl’s frightened eyes flashed through his mind. Emilia. Oh, she had been lovely, and pure, and oh, so much fun.

But, like everyone else, she got boring in the end. And so, life went on. Hopping lightly off the tombstone, James set the apple to balance precariously on its edge. “See you around, my dear,” he said in an almost sing song manner. Tucking his hands in his pockets, he walked away, heading towards a secluded area to Dissapirate. Muggles though they may be, he wasn’t really in the mood to play with mindless imbeciles today.

A soft breeze blew through the trees, threatening to knock the apple from its perch. But it stood fast, a clear declaration, for those that could understand.

“I.O.U.”
